After considerable discussion, committee members voted unanimously to not accept Peter Kelley's request to place a banner at the end of 300th Committee parade entries bearing a message about "looking forward to the next 300 years" and a rendering of the new community center building. • Chief Marshal. Wilson Farm will make and dress the float to transport the We Are Lexington folks. Jessica Steigerwald suggested the groups wear pins (or an over-the- shoulder sash) to identify each of them. Jim Wilson will be away so the farm tractor will not be in the parade this year. • Entries Update. • A motion was made to accept the following entries. Motion was approved and accepted. • Oscar Mayer wiener mobile, no fee • Waltham American Legion will enter their trolley band at the previous application fee • Air Force recruiting SUV and mini jet from Hanscom Air Force Base, no fee • Mahoney's Garden Center float, no fee • Tony Barrie would like to try to march in both the Arlington and Lexington parades on Sunday. Suzie feels that this is not easy to do; Bob Tracey will ask him to choose. • Facilities Report. Suzie received word that Grace Chapel is changing its service times to 8 and 9:30 am on Sunday morning to ease parking concerns. • Floats Update. Wells Fargo is sending a float this year, no horses. • Media. • Linda and Sandy plan to meet with Lexington Minuteman's new editor Caitlyn Kelleher on Thursday, March 28th at 2 pm to discuss parade and Monday, April 15th program publicity in upcoming issues. Caitlyn is going to set aside time to go through past Patriots' Day weekend coverage to try to come up with something fresh and new. Most all of the participating units in the parade have very interesting stories as to why they come to Lexington. Perhaps their stories are worth exploring and sharing with the community. • Committee members talked about the possibility of having a little news coverage about its own volunteers. • Jessica Steigerwald and Tanya Morrisett of the 300th Committee are willing to help us publicize via electronic media (Facebook,Twitter etc). • Publicity flyer will be reprinted. • Parade Ambassadors. Twenty-four recruits have signed on with hopes that another ten or twelve will join us. An ambassador story will be published in Lexington Minuteman's March 28th issue. • Sponsorship Update. Six sponsors have responded, all new this year. We are still waiting to hear from former supporters. Reply deadline is April 151 • Miscellaneous. • Committee will line up the parade this evening. • Instead of walking in the Youth Sunrise Parade on Monday, April 15th, cub scouts expressed interest in walking in Sunday's parade. • A motion was made to accept the 300th Committee's request to hand out bookmarks while walking along the avenue. Motion was approved and accepted. • Eleanor Smith is the 2013 winner of the Minuteman Cane Award. i April .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... • Morning. Suzie recapped the morning's events. A note about the reenactment--dress rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday, April 7th at 2 pm at the green. • Afternoon Events. Two groups are filling the gap created by the Old Guard's cancellation. Norwich University will bring its regimental band and the drill team will perform for one half hour. We have been asked to provide lunch for the band and drill team, approximately 60 people. Suzie will have Neillio's prepare the lunch and ask if St. Brigid's is willing to provide space for serving. And,The Original Shepherd's Pie Dixieland Band will perform. Meeting adjourned at 9:05 pm Respectfully submitted by Sandy Podgorski
