Lexington Youth Commission
Minutes of the Meeting Held on Thursday, November 14 1 h, 2013
A meeting for the Lexington Youth Commission was held on November 14 2013, from
7:OOPM to 8:OOPM in the lower level of Estabrook Hall 1605 Massachusetts Avenue.
Adult Members Present: Doug Lucente, Sean Maloney, Shannon DeGuglielmo, and
Debbie Hankins.
Student members present: Ilise Martel, Janelle Franklin, Joslyn Battite, Vanessa Savage,
Thomas Barry, Emma Berman, Jake Douvas, Mattew Gill, Sara Fopiano, Gillian
Goolkasian, James McLaughlin, Shaun McLaughlin, Andrew Wang, Thomas Wood, Eva
Goldfinger, Elizabeth Coons, Ethan Gordon, Anerew Thomas, Nic Fusco, Lee Katz,
James Laurenzi, Ben Liebeskind, Andrea Michelson, John Mullen, Mark Solomon,
Ashley Walsh, and Ryan Bushcini.
Excused Absences: Joseph Lahiff, Becca Denning, Annie Douvas, Jillian Jandl, Emilia
Fusco, Christopher Grant, John Lahiff, Karen Duperey, Joe Hankins and Peter Kelley.
The Meeting acted on the following items:
1. Candy Drive Money: If you have not yet handed in your money in for the Candy
Drive please give it to either Sara F, Eva G, or Janelle F by Monday, November
25 This money is for the Food Pantry; at this time of year they can use it ASAP!
2. Thanksgiving Turkey Drive: The LYC Turkey Drive will be on Wednesday
November 27 Attendees will be expected to be at C &W Transportation (On
Bedford Street) at 3:00. Volunteer Drivers are: Joslyn, Eva, Jake, Thomas, Ryan,
and James M. People who signed up to participate are: Janelle, Elizabeth, Gillian,
Jake, Nic, James, Ilise, Thomas, John M, Jillian, Lee, Vanessa, Sara, Matt, Ethan,
Emma, Andrew W (maybe) and Mark (maybe). Please remember to be
respectful for this event! All addresses are confidential.
3. T- Shirts: Please remember to bring $11.00 for your T -Shirt to the next meeting!
4. Holiday Gift Fundraising: December Community Service Project goes
towards Toys R Us Gift cards for 70 Lexington Children in need. The Tree
Lighting will be held on December 6 th this year. People who signed up for the tree
lighting are: Emma, Ryan, Elizabeth, Jake (maybe), Gillian, James, Illise, Andrea,
John M, Lee, Vanessa, Mark (maybe), Ashley (maybe), Ben, Sara, Joslyn, Eva,
Andrew, and Thomas. For people who signed up please meet up behind
Michelsons Shoe Store at 5:30. We will be collecting from 5:30 to 7:30. If you
have not signed up and can come; please do anytime during 5:30 — 7:30 time
period.
On Saturday Dec 7 th and Sunday Dec 8 th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, we will be
collecting at ACE Hardware on Lowell Street, and the Sunoco at Marrett
Road/Lincoln Street. Please check your emails, you have all received
TWOemails on signing up. If you are signed up thank you; make sure you are on
time and at the right location. If you have not; it is your job to sign up by
Monday, November 25 these kids are counting on you! To sign up, you can use
the link sent to you in TWO (2) EMAILS from Sara, sent to you on Friday Nov
15 and Sunday Nov 17. We are using Volunteer Spot to sign up for 2 hour
blocks. Everybody must sign up! Any problems with signing up on Volunteer
Spot; contact Sara or Eva, they can help you!
Candy Drive Take Two: We will be doing a second Candy Drive for our
Holiday fundraiser as decided at our November meeting. To put together candy
bags for distribution, we ask that you meet at Promedical (Doug's Office) at 1
Militia Drive (across from Stop and Shop on Worthen Road) on Monday the
25 3:00. On WED, NOV 27 th , in the LHS Front Parking Lot, Debbie Hankins
will be there from 7:15 7:40am, please pick up your candy and envelopes at this
time.
OUR NEXT MEETING will be on December 12 at TOOPM, lower level
Estabrook Hall. It is mandatory that you bring your Candy Drive Take Two
Money. If you cannot attend the meeting make arrangements for money to be at
this meeting. We need to deliver purchased gift cards to Youth Services on
Monday, December 16
