HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-10-30-TCC-minMinutes Town Celebrations Committee October 30, 2013 Training Room 201 Bedford Street Members Present Suzie Barry, Dick Crogan, Mary Gillespie, Barbara Manfredi, Julie Miller, Bill Mix andSandy Podgorski Members Not Present Linda Dixon, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente,Wayne Miller, Henry Murphy, Charlie Price,Dave Taylor and Bob Tracey New Member Rich McDonough Business • Suzie Barry convened the meeting at 6:55 pm. • Three agenda items will be carried over to the November 6, 2013 meeting: • October 16, 2013 minutes for review and approval. • Distribution of the spring meeting schedule. • Recruitment update. Veterans' Breakfast, Saturday, November 2, 2013 • Expected Guests. As of this evening, at least 134 guests have a breakfast reservation. (The total includes 108 Lexington and Bedford responses, 16 Lexington Minute Men and 10 Town Celebrations Committee members. We do not know how many town government or VA Hospital guests will attend.) • Food. Suzie will give Shelley at Neillio's a food count on Thursday. • Job assignments. • Flags — Ryan Lennon, service flags; Ryan and Suzie, town buntings; Lexington Minute Men, American flag with stand. • Service photos —Sandy Podgorski. • Name tags — Linda Dixon. • Tickets —Those who have already have tickets, Julie Miller and Rich McDonough; Walk -ins, Mary Gillespie. • Flowers for centerpieces — Sandy Podgorski. • Clergy — Since Reverend Ruben Ortiz (VA chapel office) has a family emergency and cannot say the invocation and benediction, Sandy will ask Fr. Sebastian Ugochukwu at the VA chapel if someone else from his office is available to help. • Program. The program will include o Welcome o Posting of colors o National anthem • Pledge of Allegiance • Service recognition with music o Invocation o Food service • Speaker • Door prizes o Benediction o Retire colors • Other. Committee members will meet at 2:30 pm on Friday in Keilty Hall for setup and should plan to be on hand at 7:30 am Saturday morning for the breakfast. Veterans' Day Update, Monday, November 11, 2013 Suzie highlighted Col. McLaughlin's considerable and distinguished resume. He attended Lexington elementary and junior high schools and is a member of the LHS graduating class of 1981. Suzie is arranging to have gifts presented to him at the ceremony. Patriots' Day 2014 Suzie reported that changes have been made to some of the scheduled programs. Saturday, April 19, 2014 reenactment at Minute Man Park along the battle road has been cancelled while events at Tower Park are still planned. Town Celebrations Committee parade and ceremony will not be affected. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm Respectfully submitted by Sandy Podgorski
