Gresh Lattimore comments
- Paul's help with the microphone was perfect! And that mic really carries well!
- I was glad that there were several announcers along the route. Seems more inclusive of the
community. Next year I'd recommend that Marine Colonel Glenn Bassett ( bassette aol.com
be offered some announcing: he's the next generation and looks splendid in his Marine uniform!
Others as well: Sam Doran's done so much for the Monroe Cemetery that he'd be great to
preside there. The more the merrier!
- The scouts laying wreaths: their ceremonial carriage requires improvement! They should be
trained a bit before the event: stand up straight, walk with dignity to the memorial, make sure the
wreath is well pushed into the ground, stand away and at attention while a song or shots are
being fired. Their lack of the basics speaks more to the scout leaders than to themselves.
- Marching with the Color Guard: They keep a good cadence with their cleats, but it would be
helpful if one of the drummers from the high school band marched a bit behind them and kept a
steady beat. It would give the front of the parade more military bearing and sounding.
