• Suzie Barry convened the meeting at 7 pm.
• Minutes of April 3, 2013 were accepted with a change.
• Following awards were announced this evening at Town Meeting: White Tricon Hat,
Robert Sacco; Outstanding Youth of Lexington Award, Abby Grant and Sarah Lehman;
Minuteman Cane, Eleanor Smith.
Patriots' Day /300th AnniversaryParade, Sunday, April 14,2013
• Chief Marshal.About 50 people will ride on the float which should be ready Saturday
morning. Donna Hooper and Jessie Steigerwald will carry the We Are Lexington banner.
• Entries Update.
• There is no word yet from the State Police and West Point as to whether they
will participate.
• Since the boy scouts will not push the antique water pumper this year, it was
suggestedthat theyride with the Londonderry High School band buses to show
them the way to east Lexington for drop off and parade line up.
• Navy Band North East's travel is limited to 50 miles. They cannot come.
• Tony Barrie still thinks that he can march in both Arlington's and Lexington's
parades though he has been told he cannot.
• Middlesex County Sheriff's Office is sending an honor guard to both the
Arlington and Lexington parades. The sheriff will try to participate in both
parades.
• Representative Edward Markey has not said that he will attend.
• Floats Update.Laura Hopkins (Seasons Four), Bill Hubner (Incite Architecture) and Joe
Rancatore ( Rancatore Ice Cream) are float judges.
• Media.
• Susan O'Keefe will announce the parade from the reviewing stand with Sam
Doran assisting.
• Suzie has heard from LexMedia. They will set up at the library corner of
Massachusetts Avenue.
• Linda Dixon's article on recollections of past parades featuring interviews with
Winston Flynn, Bob Tracey and Dick Michelson appeared in the April 4, 2013
edition of the Minuteman.
• Patriots' Day Weekend events were published in Sunday's April 7, 2013 Boston
Globe MetroWest section.
• Parade Ambassadors.
• Thirty -six ambassadors have signed on with two reserves to spare. Each will
receive a t -shirt and pair of gloves.
• Cart drivers are asked to come to the fire station to help carry ambassadors and
banners to the sponsored unit.
• Sponsorship Update.We have sixteen community sponsors yielding half as much
financial support as last year.Supplemental funds may need to be requested from Town
Meeting to help pay expenses.
• Miscellaneous.
• Bob Tracey will buy water for the parade.
• Military vehicles will be placed at the end of the parade.
• Suzie increased the number of buses this year to five.
• Two buses will be available at St. Brigid's at 12:45 pm to transport the
Minutemen to east Lexington.
• Dave Taylor's truck will be parkedat the town pool for banner collection.
Patriots' Day, Monday, April 15, 2013
• Reenactment.We are expecting the following visitors to attend — three, possibly four
colonels from Hanscom AFB; British Consul General Susie Kitchens and family; and
Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Richard Kidd IV and son.
• Morning Parade. Suzie recapped the sequence of events. Sam Williams' Eagle Scout
project, a new podium, will be used at the morning ceremony on the green.
• Afternoon Events.William Diamond Fife& Drum Corps would like to perform at the
green.A roped off area will be provided for the Norwich University band and its drill
team's performance at the green.
