HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-09-05-HDC-minPUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Minutes of Thursday, September 5, 2013, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:OOPM Commissioners present: Chairman Joe Welch, Paul Ross, Lynn Hopkins Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa and Barbara Feldman Department Clerk: Linda Rainville Absent Commissioners: Robert Warshawer, Carl Oldenburg FORMAL HEARINGS 7:00 PM 1646 Massachusetts Avenue: Robin Gannon presented plans for signage and lighting. The lights will be low voltage, one or two black gooseneck lights directly attached to a rod iron bracket. A teak bench which will gray over time and faux lead planter on either side will be put in front of the stairs. The Committee voted to approve the signage and lighting as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -49 7:10 PM 1646 Massachusetts Avenue: Sharon Spaulding presented plans to re -roof 20% of the roof area. Lopresti contracting will be using architectural style shingles in a color to match the existing shingles. The Committee voted to approve the roofing as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -50 1656 Massachusetts Avenue: Kristin Smith presented plans for signage and window boxes to be installed on the front of the building. The sign will be placed above the entrance to the store. Window boxes will be Lancaster style, painted black, and attached to the top rail. The Committee voted to approve the signage and window -boxes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -51 7:20 PM Lexington Battle Green: James C. Wood Jr. presented a plan to put a gray cast granite marker by the "300" tree. The Committee voted to approve the signage as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -52 7:30 PM 1444 Massachusetts Avenue: Ron and Gloria Wallace presented plans to replace most of the windows in the house, install an aluminum wheelchair ramp and wheel chair lift. They will change one window to a door and convert a double hung window to an awning window. All casings and moldings will be painted to match existing. The Committee voted to approve the windows and wheelchair ramp and wheelchair lift as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -53 7:40 PM 1751 Massachusetts Avenue: Richard Westergren, representing DCU, presented a plan to install signage and lighting on the building. DCU will be individual letters adhered to the brick not drilled into the wall. The sign will be lit with the existing gooseneck light. The Committee voted to approve the signage as discussed. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -54 CONTINUED HEARINGS 7 Hunt Road: Justin Weir presented a new door 477662 to be painted black to be installed in the front of his home. The Committee voted to approve the door as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C -55 19 Muzzey Street: did not appear at meeting. INFORMAL HEARINGS 33 -35 Bedford Street: Barry Cunha, Trustee, Libertie Condominium Trust, presented a plan to replace 180 windows with vinyl inserts in existing frame. The Committee suggested they look at other options. 1775 Massachusetts Avenue: Chris Smith, presented a plan to install new construction Marvin windows. The Committee approved the window as shown. He will come to another meeting for a formal hearing. 21 Hancock Street: Mr. Vincent Lau and Ms. Lisa Chin came before the Committee to request information regarding replacing their fence. The Committee advised Mr. and Mrs. any in -kind fence repairs /replacement does not need to be approved by the Committee OTHER BUSINESS Chairman Welch shared a letter regarding 898 Massachusetts Avenue with the Committee Minutes approved Meeting Adjourned at 8:25 pm PRIOR TO THE MEETING IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH COMMISSIONER TO VIEW ALL PROPERTIES ON THE AGENDA.
