Home My WebLink About2013-05-03-Bridge-minSITE COUNCIL 5/3/13 ATTENDANCE: Lynnette Allen, Nimisha Asthagiri, Kristin Baranofsky, Russ Bosbach, Betsy Conway, Erin Maguire, Rebecca Moore, Sean Osburne, Naomi Priver, Deb Sabin, Deidre Schadler, Debbi Side School Improvement Plan • This year's plan has results column checked off • All 9 schools in town have same format and same first two goals • implementation goals vary • elementary school principals worked together for new report card; for next year will be standardized evaluation dictated by the state, 50% staff will be trained this summer and the other 50% the following year • Draft for 2013 -14 year will include MissionNision /Beliefs statement (is nothing new but is clarifying what we believe and ensure all kids are getting it) • Third goal for Bridge and Bowman has to do with construction • Parents feedback requested by next Tuesday • Literacy working on model with reader's and writer's workshops, by marking in schedule can have specialists come in • Literacy folders pass on form year to year; rest of schools modeling on Bridge's plan (includes 3 writings based on prompt; Ames web assessment; DRA assessment from each year) • assessing gaps in achievement and 4 -5x /week work in small groups; K -2 8:30 -9a and 3 -5 2:45 -3:15 to have pull -out time • Technology: • Smart boards grades 3 -5 for next year; teachers to share what they have been doing for the few teachers who have used them to date (share the wealth) • iPads in K classes; use in Centers /small groups as extension for kids who have met benchmarks and then kids who need reinforcement use different apps for practice (4 staff members have from LEF grant from last year, now will have 6 ipads /K class) • Standard Based Report cards • teachers think had enough time, Russ Bosbach thinks was faster • easier to write for their grades, also is in line with how they teach • next year marking period will be later, this year was November • have another parent coffee next fall to talk about it again • Carol Pilarski will have survey for parents to fill out about the report cards • teachers have been giving feedback Social /Emotional Goal • ABCs of Bridge School • grade 3 -5 focus on cyber- safety • tracking repeat visits to AP /principal to see if something is repeatedly triggering the behavior Goal 3 Renovations • Traffic suggestion -- "No Left Turn" from Prospect Hill into school driveway • there is meeting in May with Asst Superintendent to oversee • Rebecca will draft a proposal to be signed by PTA and Site Counci19 • next meeting Fri 5/24 • will send email to arrange a breakfast to accompany final meeting of the year
