ATTENDANCE: Lynnette Allen, Nimisha Asthagiri, Angela Chang, Erin Maguire,
Naomi Priver, Deb Sabin, Debbi Side
Parking /Pick -Up
• more car pick up now
• people coming earlier, so back up into road and people cannot come into parking
since live pick -up extends
• Bus 3 cannot get by to drop off Clarke students then back to get Bridge
• cannot park in Old Res parking
• remind parents there is a bus 18 that goes to Hayden, Chinese School, and art
program and one other
• bus accident did not help ease anxiety about
• Wed meeting with Mary Ellen Dunn and Officer Manny Fero and head of SRTS to
meet at 2pm and then witness pickup
• no parking signs across the street
• is trouble at all schools but Bridge is worst
• has shortest drive
• cannot use field because is wet lands (became issue for construction and using
it for trailers)
• any different if buses have to enter from Lincoln Road side?
• when HS was dismissed early due to snow helped in that all buses were here on
time
• awhile ago for 1 year had people only enter from Lincoln St so no crossing of traffic
• Deb Sabin commented that when her oldest who is in college now thinks that more
kids took bus prior to fee for service, playdates could go on bus
• problem is mainly in winter, also fewer parking spots
• can there be a parking consultant come in?
• School Committee is aware
• Bridge and Bowman are priority schools
• is impacting the town beyond the school families
Kindergarten Orientation
-now doing screening in the spring
-is a shift, but meaningful
• kindergarteners to see school before transition in the fall, is more formalized meeting
with teacher
-many other towns screen children in the spring
-help with class placement
-parents will drop off packets, nurse information, can share information /questions with a
staff member
-PTA will share information
-Bridge will be April 26th and 29th
-will do in the fall if miss the day
-goal of DRA level 4 reading has been in place for a few years now
-teachers were feeling classes unbalanced
-information helpful to know earlier; is a screening tool
-in June will be f/u date for a tour to see classrooms, gym, library
Common Core
• parents feel that aiming for the bottom
• how to address the children who want to /can do more
• standards are an indicator, not a goal
• goal is to go beyond the standards, as always
• more open - endedness now which should help the gifted children
• vast majority of common core nationwide is based on MA standards
