1. Votes:
• May 20 meeting Minutes — approved with minor changes
2. Current Business Review:
• West Lexington Greenway trail —Rick reported that during the presentation to the
Board of Selectmen it became clear that an official Town process for working
with property owners needs to be developed. Carl Valente will begin working on
such a policy. Rick and Keith will meet with Karen Mullins to discuss.
• Brookhaven trail easement — Talk about the proposed trail continues. Brookhaven
obtained approval to demolish the abandoned house at 980 Waltham St and clean
up the rubble pile. Brookhaven mentioned their intention to apply for approval to
remove the greenhouse foundations and replace the lead- contaminated soil around
them. The Brookhaven site manager suggested to Rick that he give a presentation
on ACROSS Lexington to the Lexington Rotary Club.
• Minuteman Fells Greenway — The goal is to have a proposed trail mapped out by
the end of the summer. It could be part of a potential walk connecting several
routes /trails, in October.
• ACROSS Lexington Project — Rick projected the proposed Route B for ACROSS
Lexington so we could all discuss areas with more than one route option. The
specific points of discussion were the route through Dunback Meadow from
Clarke Middle School, the route around the Old Res, the route through Cotton
Farm, and the Mass Ave crossing from Hunt St to Fletcher Rd. GCC members
should walk the route again before the next meeting to make decisions about
those areas. Email Rick with your decisions.
Current Business Updates:
• None
4. New Business:
• Rick has attended meetings with Town Health Director Gerry Cody and Megan
Baldwin on a Healthy Communities Grant of up to $25,000. He hopes to get Mark
Fenton to town to speak about trails as a public health benefit, and to create a
"Walk Boston" map for Lexington.
• On November 3 rd Rick will present the ACROSS Lexington project to the Friends
of Cary Library.
• Rick is researching wayfinding companies in case we want to work with one as
ACROSS Lexington develops.
Action Items:
Walk proposed Route B again, make decisions on above noted points
