April Meeting : The meeting was called to order by Jeanne Krieger. The Commission approved the February minutes; the March minutes were also approved with the one noted correction. 2. Sign Landscaping: Tom Ennis presented the proposed landscape plans for the airport sign at the intersection of Route 2A and Hanscom Drive. In response to questions he noted that: The landscaping is designed to require low maintenance (there will not be an irrigation system at the site) and will include low growth materials to ensure safe roadway visibility. Massport will be maintaining the area that is located on Mass DOT property. It was noted that some members of the group were surprised with the design of the new Hanscom Field entrance sign as they believe it will not blend in with the newly legislated Scenic Battle Road plan. It was stated that the community hoped that signs along Route 2A would be consistent with those used by the National Park. 3. Monthly Noise Report: Sharon Williams presented the March noise report and in response to questions noted that: Streamline passenger numbers were the highest to date in March, which was in part due to Southwest ceasing nonstop service from Boston to Philadelphia. 4. Hanscom Capital Projects and Third Party Development: Dorothy Steele presented the reports and in response to questions noted that: An RFQ was submitted for preparation of the 2012 ESPR. A firm has not yet been selected. As the questions sent to Massport in an email about the proposed ESPR scope were included in the statement formally submitted to MEPA at the April 4, 2012 Public Hearing, Massport will respond to those comments/questions through the MEPA process. Richard Canale noted that the email sent to Massport by the HATS ES was to gain information that could help the committee structure their comments to MEPA. ESPR project managers. The perimeter road project will be included on the capital projects report going forward. Representatives 60% to 80% of based jets are corporate. They noted that many jets are used for both company and private travel. Access to hangars on the East Ramp is via the Air Force base.
