Hanscom Field Advisory Commission
Minutes July 19, 2011

1.July Meeting
: The meeting was called to order by Jeanne Krieger. There were no comments
on the June meeting minutes.
2. Monthly Noise Report/ Hanscom Projects:
Sharon Williams presented the May noise report;
and in response to questions noted that:

There will be a military exercise at Hanscom from July 25 to August 5. Massport will
leave a message about the exercise on the noise line
The decrease in EXP is influenced by fewer Stage 2 operations and more Stage 3
operations, not necessarily a decrease in operations.
3. Capital Project s and Third Party Development Reports:
Dorothy Steele presented the
reports and in response to questions noted that:
Massport will get back to the Commission about any findings of contamination
associated with removal of the Hangar 10 fuel farm.
There will be a ceremony held in the near future with area town officials
to mark the completion of the new hiking trail system on Massport property that connects
the Bedford Town Forest to Concord conservation land. Massport will work with the
Bedford ConCom and Trail Committee on the logistics of the event.
Massport has not had discussions with scheduled commercial or heavy cargo operators.
4.Streamline:
There was a discussion about
Streamline operations. Dorothy Steele reiterated that Streamline had informed HFAC in
March and June that it hoped to grow and would voluntarily return to present any
changes in their operations if and when that occurred.
Andy Friedlich expressed concern about the possibility of new routes being initiated and
what seemed like an in commercial and/or charter service at
Hanscom. D. Steele responded that Massport is aware of the communitconcern about
increases in operations at Hanscom but noted that the minimal increases being discussed
would not trigger any additional environmental review as addressed in the Master Plan
and Noise Rules.
A. Friedlich questioned if the Master Plan has, or will be updated. D. Steele reminded
the group that it is the Policy Statements within the Master Plan that guide and address
environmental reviews (ESPRs) are undertaken regularly.

Phelps noted that Streamline must comply with appropriate TSA security regulations for
