Minutes: The meeting was called to order by Jeanne Krieger (HFAC Chair Hank Manz was absent). There were no comments on the December Minutes. 2. Monthly Noise Report: Sara Arnold presented the December noise report. There was discussion about night operations. There are about four to six operations a night, on average. Many of the night flights are Boston Medflight related; there are international jets, sports charter and general aviation activity as well. The EXP total for the year is not calculated until the Massport noise consultant reviews the data. 3. Hanscom Projects: After reviewing the status of projects at Hanscom,S. Arnold and Dorothy Steele explained that: Massport has maintained a level orange alert since Christmas day when there was a terrorist attempt on a U.S. bound airliner. Massport staff members keep the tenants informed of security alerts. The design phase for installing solar panels on the roof of the Civil Air Terminal is in process. D. Steele will report back to HFAC on how the generated electricity (from the solar panels) will be used. Massport is looking for opportunities to decrease air traffic over the Battle Road Trail in Minute Man National Historical Park. The goal is to tighten the touch & go flight patterns so the aircraft fly over the airport rather than over the Park, without increasing overflights within the residential communities. Massport has not had discussions with commercial or cargo operators about new service at Hanscom. Edge Sports in Bedford has been in communication with Massport about expanding and using abutting land that is owned by Massport. There are rumors that this could include a skating rink that would be used by the Bruins, but there is nothing definitive. In the near future, Massport staff members will be scheduling a meeting between Massport CEO Tom Kinton and local officials. This effort was delayed during the previous week because of a death in the family of s Director of Community Affairs. 4. Next Meeting: The next HFAC meeting is scheduled for February 16, 2010. Attendees : Dorothy Steele, Cedric Daniel, Sara Arnold, Tom Hirsch and Jeanne Krieger.
