HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-03-21-HFAC-min Hanscom Field Advisory Commission (HFAC) Minutes Produced by: Massport Staff March 21, 2006 Introduction/Minutes: 1. Bedford Selectman, Gordon Feltman informed the group that he is Sheldon Moll’s replacement as Bedford’s HFAC representative. Although there was not a quorum, the February minutes were discussed and no corrections were made. Monthly Noise Report: 2. Sara Arnold reviewed the noise report for the month of February. It was noted that there were decreases in all aircraft categories except helicopters and military operations when comparing February 2006 to February 2005. She also reported that night activity increased by 20 from February 2005 because there were more medical flights. Planning: 3.Massport had nothing new to report. Other: 4. In response to questions, S. Arnold and/or Dorothy Steele responded:  Massport will provide Margaret Coppe with the information previously provided to the HATS Ad Hoc Noise Group.  Massport/Hanscom Field supports, and is a member of, Sound Initiative, an organization that promotes the phase out of Stage 2 aircraft weighing under 75,000 lbs.  Massport has not had any discussions with commercial carrier or cargo operators who are interested in starting new services at Hanscom.  Once the Draft ESPR is filed, Massport will hold public meetings as part of the MEPA comment period.  Hangar 24 and Hangar 10 developers have not finalized their plans and the contract discussions continue. Therefore, presentations to HFAC by the developer’s representatives have not been scheduled.  In response to an inquiry regarding the background of a HFAC Commissioner nominee, Tom Hirsch responded that Dale Zeskind, of Zeskind Associates, is a consultant who owns a plane on the field and has an office at a Hanscom FBO. Other: 5. In response to a suggestion by Hank Manz, members expressed interest in having a representative in the Very Light Jet industry speak at a future HFAC meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. in Lexington. Barbara Patzner, Director Hanscom Field will present The State of Hanscom at that time.
