Votes: • April 22 meeting Minutes — approved • Report to Board of Selectmen on West Lexington Greenway - approved 2. Current Business Review: • West Lexington Greenway trail (Keith) — Report to Board of Selectmen was approved. This report summarizes the plans for the WLG trail system and will be presented at the 6/3/13 BoS meeting. • The two priority segments of the project are the stretch between Bedford St and Grove St, passing the Drummer Boy condominiums, and the stretch from the Bikeway to Wood St. Keith will ask Paul Knight to start the planning, perhaps working with David Hoadley, a retired bridge engineer. The Bikeway junction near the DPW composting site needs to be redesigned. • Keith and Eileen met with John Livsey to walk through the proposed work on Lincoln St under Rte 128. They scouted the location of a gravel path along the north side of Lincoln St between the Cambridge Reservoir trail and Weston St, and a crosswalk at the Weston St intersection. • ACROSS Lexington Project (Rick) — Rick presented a slideshow of the proposed Route B for ACROSS Lexington. The target "opening" date for the new route is October 15. Rick has already begun securing necessary permissions from the Historic Districts Commission, the Recreation Department and the affected Schools. Some route modifications were suggested, and GCC members should walk the route before the next meeting to gather ideas and suggestions. Current Business Updates: • None 4. New Business: • Those who attended the Mass Recreational Trail Advisory Board conference earlier in May made some good connections and heard the keynote speaker, Mark Fenton, speak about trails as a public health benefit. • Jeanne Krieger and Norman Cohen are on the Operations Board at Brookhaven, which may help with the trail easement over the DeVincent property north of Brookhaven. A partnership between Brookhaven and ACROSS Lexington could create a loop trail through Lot 1. Karen Mullins is still working with Shire on the easement on that property. • David Lautzenheiser is working on a Big Walk for this fall that could cover part of the Minuteman Fells Greenway route. • Rick has proposed a Walk Club in conjunction with the Recreation Department. They would organize social walks for exercise. • Aaron's Bike Walk week bike ride was well attended and fun. • The Whipple Hill work day with the Track team and the Stewards went well.
