HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-11-29-REC-min (Lincoln Park Subcommittee) Lincoln Park Sub-Committee Meeting November 29, 2012 Present David Williams, Lynne Wilson, Nell Walker, Brian Kelly, Bob Pressman,Wes Wirth, Wirth Associates, Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation, Wendy Rudner, liaison • Karen • • Memorial Donation signage plaque needs brass to be cleaned and new plexiglass, as it is smoky/poor visibility, and disservice to all • • After a brief discussion Lynne said Sub-committee should fix it • • Wes will contact someone he knows who will do this • Map signage presented by Wes • • New, space-age quality of sign - digital printing, won't fade, graffiti-proof, non-scratch • • Karen noted how town often has destruction of property • • Nell noted that interpretive signs look poor and storm resulted in fallen trees on paths • • Karen said to call Chris Filadoro. • • Wes will do so • - Place at high school entry, Lincoln Park entry, and smaller sign at Kirk Grove • • Wes displayed full size Nature Path plan Changes are • • Remove pictures, then move title over • • Specify Theresa and Roberta Lee path on the map and add to green box at bottom of map • • Place + - by mile, 1/2 mile • • Add - to Bridge School • • Add -to Res • • Add Kirk Redwood Grove • • Add "Lower Vinebrook°' • • Show paths in Woodland Garden paths • • At Plaza, add different sign to highlight azaleas, etc • • Change color green to a bit darker • • Change titles to red, not white • • Change title to Nature and Fitness Path and make lettering bigger • Granite slabs • • Twelve slabs of varying lengths, from Dana Home's foundation, found by David Williams, now • dropped off in Pat's Meadow area • • Wes proposed two examples' • • Possibly stack in circular formation • • Possibly sl elevated, at top of raised path at Poplar Grove area, some for sitting, some tall, • with paved pathway to/from • • Discussion, then agreement on structure layout • • 40" x 40" area, with granite on both sides of a middle pathway • • Brian will ask Mark McCullough to about installation - drill hole, secure pipe in granite and • secure structure in concrete • • Karen suggested possibly using CPC funds to install • • Put information on the new signs - Wes wanted to call structure "Landfill" • • Brian regarding bathroom progress • • Jim McLaughlin dug hole, fenced in area • • Brian will place a needed slab of aluminum before Monday • - Weather permitting, Monday, is tentative day to start plumbing - • Maintenance storage building. • • Delete separation wall, keep 2 door access same, concession stand?? • - All will be re-assessed at a later time • • Financials so far: • • Have $99,000, less $2,000 for fencing - • Noted $26,000 from LUSC, $20,000 from !across, other donations coming in, plus "thank you" • to Bob Pressman for his donation More sports organizations have committed funds as well, • Brian will follow up with their offers. - • Obtaining other donations' • • Karen asked Brian to write a couple paragraphs and she will have it placed in the February Lexington Recreation bulletin newsletter • Brian will also place in Colonial Times and Lexington Minuteman newspapers • Genera!
