HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-03-14-YC-minTown of Lexington Lexington Youth Commission Minutes of Meeting Held on Thursday, March 14 1 h, 2013 A meeting of the Lexington Youth Commission was held on March 14th at 7:OOPM till 8:30PM at the Cary Memorial Building, in the Estabrook Room, 1605 Massachusetts Avenue. Members Present: Sean Maloney, Shannon DeGuglielmo, Karen Duperey, Debbie Hankins, Jenna Busa, Beverly Kelley, Abby Grant, Sara Lehman, Janelle Franklin, Carolyn Avery, Becca Denning, Jackie Denning, Annie Douvas, Jake Douvas, Lindsay Stevenson, Sara Fopiano, Gillian Goolkasian, Jillian Jandl, James McLaughlin, Shaun McLaughlin, Natalia Pronchick, Eva Goldfinger, Elizabeth Coons, Scott Cunningham, Emilia Fusco, Nic Fusco, Lee Katz, Christopher Grant, James Laurenzi, Ben Liebeskind, Andrea Michelson, John Mullen, Mark Solomon, Ashley Walsh. Members Excused: Doug Lucente, Jenna Busa, Peter Kelley, Joslyn Battite, Michael Barry, Andrew Wang, Mariel Winton, Thomas Wood, Caitlyn Dooley, Jack McCullough, and John Lahiff. The meeting acted on the following items: Cotting School Visit: The Cotting School visit will be held on either April 5th or April 11th. On that day we will meet at the flag pole by the front of the school at 11:00. We ask that team captins check with their team for their members that were not at the meeting to ask if they are able to attend. Also Eva Goldfinger and Sara Lehman had offered to try and start a group through NHS to help contribute to the book drive. The People who said the could come are: Sara Lehman, Abby Grant, Becca Denning, Jackie Denning, Carolyn Avery, Mark Solomon, Andrea Michelson, Elizabeth Coons, Gillian Goolkasian, Eva Goldfinger (maybe), Sara Fopiano, Ben Liebeskind, Natalia Pronchick, Scott Cunningham, Chris Grant, James Laurenzi, John Mullen (maybe), Nic Fusco, Janelle Franklin, James McLaughlin, Shaun McLaughlin, Lee Katz, Emilia Fusco, Lindsey Stevenson, AnnieDouvas, and JakeDouvas. People who offered to drive: Jackie Denning, Sara Lehman, Abby Grant, Scott Cunningham, Eva Goldfinger (maybe), Carolyn Avery, Lindsay Stevenson, and James McLaughlin. If you discover anytime between now and the visit that you are not able to drive or attend please notify your captain! Collecting Books: Spread the word! There are book collecting stations at Arlex, Ace Hardware, and Sunoco. We will be collecting books till April 5th! 300 Float: We have decided that we are going to build a lattice in the Farming section. Also if anyone has a smoke machine they would like to bring to the next meeting which is on March 24 at Mrs. Kelly's House, 24 Forest Street in Lexington. Mrs. Kelley also found a 8ft tall Flagpole with a metal base to put in the Freedom section of our Float. So far for volenteers for standing in the float we have Jake Douvas signed up for farming, James Laurenzi for Freedom, and Annie Douvas and Sara Lehman (maybe) signed up for family. A local dentist, Dr. Coppe, has generously offered to supply all costumes needed for the float. Shaun and James McLaughlin have also volunteered to bring 3 bales of Hay for the float. We also will be getting fake grass for the family section. Extra Community Service Opportunities: Sean has asked if anyone would like to help out at the Estabrook School if you would like to get some extra hours.
