1. Votes:
• February 25 meeting Minutes — approved
2. Current Business Review:
• ACROSS Lexington Project (Rick) — David Neal presented his iPhone app that
lays ACROSS routes onto the public Town GIS conservation maps. It has
dynamic "pushpins" that lead to further information about specific locations.
GCC can help with accuracy and detail.
• The Working Group has created markers on a map denoting commercial districts,
houses of worship, historic houses & museums and recreation centers, as well as
other points of interest around town. This will be used to plan the next ACROSS
route. A "field survey form" will be available shortly for GCC members to try out
potential route segments. Considerations will include recreation vs. off - street
travel options and coordination with upcoming DPW projects. The area presently
under consideration is in the southwest portion of town.
• Bike/Walk/Bus Week (Peggy) — no report in Peggy's absence, but Aaron, Keith,
Rick and Stew are all planning to lead activities during the week of May 5 -11,
2013. Rick passed out a flyer for the website lexbikewalkbusweek.org.
• West Lexington Greenway next steps (Keith) — Working Group has met once.
They are breaking down the 5+ miles of trail into segments. A report/summary
will go to the Board of Selectmen. A draft report will be presented to whole GCC
for comment before finalized.
Current Business Updates:
• Trail Easement Database — The database is now available through Dropbox. If
you make updates, note in title with your initials and date. Some site visits are
needed and some perusal of Town records. Please check database and note if you
do a site visit and /or make corrections.
• Middlesex Greenway Coalition (Rick/Keith) — The focus of this group is
becoming the new Minuteman -Fells Connection, which will connect the
Minuteman Bikeway with the Middlesex Fells. The Lexington portion of this is in
the area of North Street. Rick projected a map by David Loutzenheiser of
Metropolitan Area Planning Council showing possible routes.
• Transportation Forum — This forum, a gathering of interested in parties in Town is
a periodic gathering for sharing news and information. Rick and Keith have
attended for the GCC. Proposed legislation would enact a Complete Streets
program for the state; would be incorporated into the Transportation Bond Bill.
4. New Business:
• DCR conference - The Dept. of Conservation and Recreation Trails Conference,
held by the Mass. Recreational Trails Advisory Board will be May 4, 2013, at
Devens, 8am -4pm.
Action Items:
Trail Easement database to be placed on the GCC web site.
