• MA Elementary Principals Association is
a expecting a Kuwait delegation.
Harrington is one of the site for this
delegation (2/3 ministers of education
from Kuwait will be in school one
morning this month)
• The process for kindergarten screening
has changed. The screening will take
place in spring. Orientation for new
families has already been done. Parents
will electronically sign up for screening
appointments. Teachers and special
educators will be a part of the screening.
The purpose of the screening is to be
better prepared to meet the behavioral,
cognitive, and social needs of the
children. During the month of June the
students will have an opportunity to visit
your classrooms

and implementing measures to increase
the student performance. For example —
for P grade the TWW scored increased
when they were given specific writing
practice (couple of times a week a
prompt was given to the students and
they were given 3 minutes to write
about that topic)
• The school has been collecting these
data for 4 years and has found that TWW
scores are correlated to long
composition on the MCAS.
• There was a suggestion to organize a
Lets Chat session about writing — Parent
workshop on how to reinforce good
writing.
