Meeting began at 5:47 pm
1. Minutes for the January 5, 2012 meeting were approved.
2. Status of complaint at medical building at 57 Bedford Street—we needed
someone to get names and room numbers of all the tenants
o Jen got the names and office numbers of all the tenants.
o Discussion of what to do now. Suggestion surfaced to have Jen and
Michael to attempt to contact landlord to schedule a meeting to
discuss this issue.
3. Review of names of three community people knowledgeable about disability
issues for next phase of Shriver grant. This was for research purposes; these
people should not be told about details discussed by group.
o Three people are on the list and will be confirmed
4. Discussion of Hastings Park Inn— handicap parking issues. Original plan
showed handicap area would be used for snow storage Plan was revised to
not use the handicap area for snow. Current plans do not show handicapped
parking for the proposed conference center.
CoD recommends an additional handicapped parking spot for the conference
center to be in compliance with ADA regulations
o Susan Kenyon reviewed the plans for the Inn. She is representing the
"Lex Protects Our Neighborhoods", a privately funded neighborhood
group opposed to scale and scope of the plans. There are 70-90 people
in the group— much of the group would not oppose the Dana Home
original footprint. (DH was a 14 room Nursing home previously)
o The group is opposed to 22 room inn, 8 rooms in house next door, 56
seat restaurant and 36 seat lounge Some members are opposed to a
commercial use for the area. It will be the first time a residentially
zoned area would be rezoned for commercial use. As a Bed and
Breakfast, it would only have three rooms
o A traffic study will be conducted from funds raised by the group and
will be available soon.
