selecting a guest speaker.

rules and information, etc., will be e-mailed to an extensive list around town,
which includes about ten official websites.

Veterans’ Breakfast 2012 Update
•Venues
•Minuteman Tech -- Julie is waiting for a return call from Mary Ann Hamm.
•Lexington High – Suzie found that there are too many logistics involved in using
this facility.
•St. Paul’s Evangelical Church – Linda Dixon visited the parish and feels that it is
an ideal place to host the breakfast. Amenities include a piano, PA system,
industrial kitchen, ground level entrance, 300-person capacity, $400 charge and,
the church can provide us with help from the ranks of its youth. In addition, the
Pastor has ministers who are a USAF veteran and active duty Marine Corps and
Army.
•Grace Chapel – Linda is waiting to hear from Pastor Richard Rhodes.
•St. Brigid’s – The charge is $400 for the small room in the Kennedy School.
•Food
•Neillio’s will be asked to give an estimated cost for providing the basic breakfast.
Other community businesses will be asked to possibly donate fruit, coffee,
bagels, etc.
•The venue, as well as catering details, should be determined at the next meeting.
•Program
Committee members discussed possible guest speakers and structure of the talk.
•VSO Ryan Lennon’s update
•Ryan prepared a flyer and sent out initial publicity. The Lexington Veterans’
Association is another way to spread the word about the breakfast. Once a date
is set, Ryan will send out additional publicity with more detail, make posters, etc.
•Dispensing tickets was suggested as the best way to handle organization of the
responses to the invitation.
•The VSO’s budget will allow for a $1,000 contribution to the breakfast.
•Door Prizes
The committee likes the idea of offering door prizes. Suggestions were
mentioned as possible donations to pursue, for example, Bill Mix will call
Aloft/Element to ask for a donation of a weekend package and ask staff at the
USS Constitution for a private tour of the ship and lunch with the Commander;
Suzie will try to secure Bruins tickets. Other suggestions include an LL Bean gift
certificate, Red Sox tickets, State House tour by Jay Kaufman; lunch with the
Hanscom Air Force Base commander; Lexington Symphony tickets, etc.
•Other
•The question of an admission cost was raised. Some feel that we should not charge our
guests; those opposing feel that there should be a charge, but that the cost should be
nominal.
•Breakfast invitations will be extended to a veteran and one guest only.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm
Respectfully submitted by Sandy Podgorski
