Veterans’ Day 2012  Essay contest. Committee members all agree that we should offer the essay contest again this year. Suzie asked that members suggest one or two essay questions at the next meeting.  Parade and ceremony. If the ceremony is held indoors, as the majority of committee members feel it should, then where to start and end the parade will need to be decided. Suzie feels we should have input from various people, groups, veterans themselves, etc. regarding the proposed changes, in addition to the Selectmen’s approval.  The community can be apprised of the new format, thereby answering potential questions, by publishing a news article in the Minuteman and Colonial Times.  It was suggested that William Diamond Fife & Drum be invited to participate.  Veterans’ breakfast. Discussion ensued about reinstituting the veterans’ breakfast. All agreed that we should. Dates, format and possible venues for the event were talked about. Suzie will ask Ryan Lennon to help us as well as invite Leo McGonagle (one of Ryan’s aides at the Memorial Day parade) to attend our next meeting. Patriots’ Day Parade 2013  Theme.
