USAF Band of Liberty Concert, June 30
th
Publicity. Dick Crogan will distribute posters and flyers around town. Suzie e-mailed the
event to various websites.
Hospitality. Town Celebrations Committee has a small budget available to provide dinner
for band members. Sondra Lucente and Paul Jenkins offered to ask Via Lago and Neillio’s,
respectively, what they would charge to provide the meals. St. Brigid’s will be asked to
offer space for the band to eat and change into uniforms.
Cancellation. In the event of inclement weather, the band is responsible for making this
decision.
Other. Since there is no DPW support for the concert, Suzie will have keys to the gazebo.
th
The July 4 carnival has been moved this year from the baseball field to the gazebo area;
carnival set up will not interfere with the concert.
Veterans’ Day 2012
Essay contest. Committee members all agree that we should offer the essay contest again
this year. Suzie asked that members suggest one or two essay questions at the next
meeting.
Parade and ceremony. If the ceremony is held indoors, as the majority of committee
members feel it should, then where to start and end the parade will need to be decided.
Suzie feels we should have input from various people, groups, veterans themselves, etc.
regarding the proposed changes, in addition to the Selectmen’s approval.
The community can be apprised of the new format, thereby answering potential
questions, by publishing a news article in the Minuteman and Colonial Times.
It was suggested that William Diamond Fife & Drum be invited to participate.
Veterans’ breakfast. Discussion ensued about reinstituting the veterans’ breakfast. All
agreed that we should. Dates, format and possible venues for the event were talked about.
Suzie will ask Ryan Lennon to help us as well as invite Leo McGonagle (one of Ryan’s aides
at the Memorial Day parade) to attend our next meeting.
Patriots’ Day Parade 2013
Theme. There is one; the committee will vote on it at the next meeting.
Applications. Applications will not be available online this year. They will be mailed early
and due back in November.
Groups. Members discussed the interest of two Philadelphia mummers units (and their
cost) in participating in the parade.
Groups. Board of Selectmen sent invitation letters to 21 other Lexington communities to
attend and participate.
Sponsors. Funding issues were discussed.
Rain date. We need more input before a decision is made.
