HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-04-11-TCC-min Minutes Town Celebrations Committee April 11, 2012 Room 111, Town Hall Members Present Suzie Barry, Dick Crogan, Linda Dixon, Mary Gillespie, Jo-Anne Granger, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Sandy Podgorski, Charlie Price, Jim Shaw and Bob Tracey Members Not Present Dave Taylor Business  Suzie Barry convened the meeting at 7 pm.  Both the March 29, 2012 and April 5, 2012 minutes were approved and accepted with amendments. Patriots’ Day 2012 Morning Events Reenactment  A large contingent from Hanscom Air Force base is expected to attend.  Two, possibly three, TV stations will be broadcasting from the green. Youth Parade & Ceremony  Vocalist, clergy representative and masters of ceremony have been arranged.  Two youth awards will be presented this year. Afternoon Parade  As of this evening, we have 32 prospective parade ambassadors. Of the 32, ten have confirmed their participation.  Committee members will be given radios to communicate.  Since the Bruins have made it into the playoffs, the Honorary Grand Marshals cannot be present to ride in the parade. Some of the family members, however, will be available. Suzie will talk with Lexington Toyota about providing a vehicle to transport the families.  Suzie prepared a letter specifying guidelines (including fee) for political candidates’ participation in the parade and distributed it to the appropriate offices. Jim Shaw assisted in this endeavor by delivering the letter to several candidates and political groups. Application deadline is Friday, April 13.  Votes were taken on the following motions -- th  To allow the 300 Committee members to hand out bookmarks to spectators, with the understanding that they cannot delay the parade while doing so.  To allow late entry Coast Guard Auxiliary Color Guard to march at no fee.  To allow late entry LBYH intramural players to march with the old town trolley at no fee. LBYH will be lined up with the Bruins’ families and will carry the banner. All motions passed unanimously and were accepted. Memorial Day 2012  Bedford resident, Alma Hart, will be guest speaker.  Clergy has been arranged.  We will ask the town’s new VSO (Veterans’ Service Officer), Ryan Lennon, to be chief marshal.
