Approval of outstanding minutes Amended and approved. Agenda Topics discussed 2. Discussion Topics — Parent Education SIP • 14 parents and 4 staff members Goal 43 attended. a. LET'S CHAT: School Security and ■ Parents shared reasons for attending. Safety Feedback on Jan. 11 session. ■ Ms. Mead explained school district's coordinated emergency response system without offering details that could compromise safety (i.e. naming specific evacuation locations). Parents voiced wanting a balance between safety and maintaining a welcoming community. Several formerly out -of -state parents discussed how lockdown practice drills with students became routine overtime and were well received. ■ A summary of the meeting will be submitted for the January Herald. b. Communication Plan for LET'S CHAT ■ Flyers will be sent home today to K -2 — January 24 - Literacy parents. * Babysitting services will be advertised and provided by two Barrington Site Council members in the cafeteria. ■ There will not be an online component to this workshop. Suggestion Box — Ideas that have come • Student request that recess balls be forward inflated. ■ Parent question regarding frequency of student recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance. Ms. Mead clarified that the pledge is recited once a week as a school and left to teacher discretion as to greater frequency; some staff build it into their daily routine. Anonymous parent request for information on additional best practices at Harrington besides HAWKS. 3. New Item — District Budget Update ■ Ms. Mead noted that there are no proposed cuts in the new budget. + Twenty classrooms will be maintained. • There is support for full time elementary Assistant Principals. a A public hearing in Jan. will be held at Harrington.
