Klimasmith, Assistant Principal School Council Minutes Date: 11/15/12 Members Present: Anne Carothers – Principal th Ann Redmon – parent of 6 grader th Zeynep Bursal – parent 7 grader th Jennifer Burgin – teacher 6 grade th Jane Kalinski – 8 graders Michelle Tanguay- Librarian th Mary Barry – 6 grade teacher Margaret Mullen – speech thth Pamela Tames – 2 students (6 and 8 grade) *Absent th Robyn Gannon (parent of 7 grader) th Amy Garbis (parent of 7 grader) 1) Review of the norms Suggestion to add the norm “remain on one conversation at a time” Approval by entire council of the norms from last year, with addition of new norm 2) MA Association of School Committees – LPS School Council FQA’s  Question brought up about training conducted by the town 3) Election of Co-chair  Ann Redmon nominated and accepted / all approved 4) Review of the WDMS School Improvement Plan  Goal 1 & 2 District goals / all schools implementing  Goal 3 is Diamond specific and the goal that the Site Council chose & developed  Addition of the District Goal: Strengthen Diamond’s professional culture 5) Diamond’s action step towards having meaningful and challenging conversations.  PD having difficult conversations, facilitated by Patti Grenier (Teachers’ 21) 6) Diamond’s Essential Question(s)  Meaningful and rich conversations & planning backward to reach our goals 7) Budget request Next Time: Look at survey data from last year
