1. Votes:
• December 17 meeting Minutes — approved
• Change March 25 meeting to April 1 — approved
2. Current Business Review:
• West Lexington Greenway Master Plan (Keith) — Keith will go before the Capital
Expenditures Committee to report, and will return to the Board of Selectmen for
more details regarding available funding and the Stewards work schedule. A work
group of GCC members will convene late Feb or early March to plan next steps.
• Trail Easement Database (Stew) - Stew has entered the existing data into an excel
spreadsheet. The next step is to look through Town paper records to fill the
information gaps. Eventually we may need to go to Cambridge for the deed
records. It would be good to find a way to add visual /photographic data to the
record as well. Peggy will check with Marita Hartshorn about work they did for
the bikeway. Rick will set up a dropbox so we can all access the Db and add to it
as time allows.
• CPA funding for ACROSS Lexin on — CPA funds will be available for materials
only, but $5000.00 will be available for use July 1, 2013, providing the measure is
approved by Town Meeting. There is no deadline for using the money. Rick and
Mike are leading a Task Group building a framework for the types of trails and
markings for the next route installment. The rest of the GCC will be engaged as
appropriate.
• March 16/17 is Incorporation Weekend for Lexington 300. Keith & Rick will be
running a public session with an overview of ACROSS Lexington, and seeking
feedback on 3/17. On 3/17 there will be another walk on the pilot route.
• Bike/Walk/Bus Week (Peggy) — This will be May 5 -11. Rick will be leading 3
walks: on the pilot route, a gentle one from the Senior Center, and a possible
future ACROSS route. Keith will lead an early morning walk through Wright
Farm and the Land Locked Forest. Aaron will work on a "bike & beverage"
event. Peggy will represent the GCC at the "Amazing Race" planning meeting.
We also discussed the possibility of other neighborhood bike events in town.
Current Business Updates:
• Transportation Forum Meeting (Keith/Rick) — Rick & Keith attended and learned
about proposed street improvements along Mass. Ave. between Marrett Road and
Pleasant Street. The next public feedback meeting is February 6 at 7:30pm in
Cary Hall.
• CPC Grant Update (Keith) — see current business review.
4. New Business:
• Change March Meeting date — moved to April 1.
• Report from Middlesex Greenway Meeting (Rick/Keith) — Efforts are proceeding
to form a coalition of interested parties to create a Middlesex Greenway concept
linking open spaces in the communities of Woburn, Burlington and Lexington.
Efforts are being made by this coalition to include protection of the Burlington
Canyon, which is land in Burlington bordering properties on North Street owned
by the Commonwealth which was originally intended for the continuation of
Route 3 to an inner beltway.
