ATTENDANCE: Lynnette Allen, Nimisha Astagari, Russ Bosbach, Angela Chang,
Meg Colella, Betsy Conway, Rebecca Moroe, Sean Osburne, Naomi Priver, Deb Sabin,
Debbie Side, Erin Maguire (guest)
AGENDA:
1. Approve minutes from May and Sept meetings
2. Renovations Update
a. around 11/12 glass for right side of main hallway (not office side) should arrive;
will need to partition area to contain dust; will wait until Dec vacation for the main
office glass installation
b. now to finish the boiler room and complete list of to -do items (not much work
currently going on)
c. then will restart working at 4pm -- old staff room, principal and AP offices (not
touching the library until the summer)
d. it will take through Feb vacation ( ?into March) to finish that area, so have cushion
time until the end of school
e. boiler room is all set
i. heating system -- will not have adjustments in the room (just 1 -2 degree),
Facilities can access remotely to adjust the temperature so need to contact the
principal to change temperature
ii. the system is related to air temperature outside, indoor temp
f. Fans -- used to have in rooms but will affect the new system so to hold off for now
g. blinds and screens to arrive soon
h. note to parent community next week that after 4pm is a hard hat area, so no one
will be allowed in the building after that time (seems unwelcoming to families but is
a safety issue)
i. construction slated to complete in Nov 2013
3. Agenda items for the upcoming year
a. Russ Bosbach is "Wellness Champion" at Bridge to coordinate wellness in the
building
i. all staff received a pedometer and there is a challenge for teams of 6 staff
members who walks the most during the school day
ii. chef of the month -- Food services to have demo on 11 A 5 and 25 people will
cook then eat lunch
iii. after school classes, ie zumba
b. new report card
c. 5th grade parents -- know what is coming ahead
d. online payment fee for field trips, ?waive fee if <$20
e. parking, buses
f. financial math and literacy program
g. Family Friends program
i. struggled for past 3 years to have enough host families; we're only school with
this placement trouble, need to publicize program more
ii. we're only school with placement trouble
iii. #s vary depending on space if take K/1 students
h. Communication
i. languages
ii. international community
i. write a grant to celebrate at the end of the renovations
4. Standards Based Report Cards
a. may do PTA coffee on Fri 11 /16
b. changed to 2 from 3 terms
c. looks so much differnt
d. to discuss the benefits of it
e. this is a pilot year, so looking for feedback!
f. start of school thru Feb all the principal -led teacher training sessions are
addressing the new report cards
g. Reports come oout Dec 14th
h. LPS website has lots of information
i. parents are concerned about not seeing an "M" on the first report card but that
means has mastered the end -of =year standards
j. are few things completed but Dec, so little opportunity for M
k. spring conferences may look different, compare to how doing vs Dec report card
