KENNEDY June 26, 2002 4:fufun of ` textrt$tuxt, Historic Districts Commission Dear Commissioners: 1; I' aszttcltixsetts OFFICE OF SELECTMEN TEL. (781) 862 -0500 X208 FAX: (781) 869 -9488 When Kerry Brandin and I appeared before the Commission last month, we sought approval for banners and signs. The Commission approved the banners as presented but had requested that we significantly reduce the size of the Liberty Ride Stop signs. Subsequently, we have made every reasonable effort to comply with the request. Unfortunately, the state and federal regulations continue to increase the size of signs. The standard no parking signs, which are on many poles in the district, are in fact 12 x 18. That is the smallest sign available. The sign makers tried to get old stock from various suppliers; however none was available. We also attempted to have custom stock made but given the short time frame, there are no options available. Therefore, I would kindly request that for this pilot program the 12 x 18 size be approved. If we are able to renew the program next year, we will continue to pursue options to obtain the smaller size the Commission requested. Thank you for your consideration of this request.
