NOTICE OF DETERMINATION
Notice is hereby given that at a hearing of the Historic Districts Commission held on Thursday,
November 1, 2001, the Commission granted a Certificate of Appropriateness to William Hadley,
representing the Town of Lexington,with respect to exterior architectural changes in Lexington
' Center, which is locatea within the Battle Green District.
Participating in the decision were Commissioners Joann Gschwendtner, Ian Adamson,Dan Fenn,
and Lynn Hopkins, and Associate Commissioner Daniel Griffin. �

C�RTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATEN�SS
This certificate is issued pursuant to Chapter 447, Acts of Massachusetts, 1956, as amended,to
William Hadley, representing the Town of Lexington
with respect to exterior architectural changes in Lexington Center
which is in the Battle Green District.
The approved work is in two parts.
1. LOCATION
The location for news boxes in Lexington Center will be in front of the Videosmith store
at 1713 Massachusetts Avenue.
2. DESIGN OF BUXES
The boxes will be a 16-unit steel "condo"by SHO-RACK by Kaspar Wire Works, Inc.
The units will be as f�llows: a modular concourse unit four(4)boxes wide and two(2)high, for
a total of eight (8) boxes back-to-back with another identical unit of eight(8)boxes for a TOTAL
OF 16 BOXES.
The top will be rounded. Eight(8)of the boxes will have mechanisms for coins and eight
(8)without. This detail may be adjusted by the applicant as needed. The color will be hunter
green with the silk-screen name of each publication in its lo�o on the front onlv in white. Each
unit of eight boxes will sit on and be bolted to a steel tray. Each tray will have two steel
pedestals bolted into the sidewalk. �
The work shall conform to the information submitted on November 1, 2001 and be completed to
the satisfaction of the Commission. After completion, the work shall, in the judgement of this
Commission,be maintained in good repair.
This Certificate shall be void if it is not acted upon within one year from the date of this
Certificate, or if the work described is removed, abandoned, or replaced.
