Topics Discussed:
• David Williams here in his capacity as Chairman of the Preservation
Committee which has, through bequests, funded over $400K for dev of paths
and landscaping and bathrooms in Lincoln Park. An 1850s house was just
dismantled, and new owners of Dana Home donated 11 pieces of granite
ranging from 4'- 9', and David Williams proposing to establish a meditation
garden using these pieces of granite. A set of drawings was shown to the
LCA. David asked what aspect of the project LCA willing to fund. Buster
Prospect HIII Park (Concord) was D.W.'s model for the Lexington project.
• With David, LCA also discussed the LCA's desire to find a dedicated gallery
space for artists. Ask Deb Mauger for a site study for an LCA gallery space,
such as the Masonic Park buildings.
• David Williams also suggested LCA request funds from Town Meeting, Dec.
28, 2012 was the deadline — nothing barring us from asking for $25K, e.g. in
2013.
• D.W. also discussed locating the Filipowski sculpture in the alleyway by Bank
of America, where a park (in the style of Vest Pocket Park) is being planned.
• D.W. suggested Wilson Farm, League of Conservation, and Lexington
Symphony might be good resources for helping to sponsor silent auctions to
fundraise for LCA.
• LCA grant Approval Letters need to go out.
• Emily briefed the council about the Community Fund of Lexington.
