From Meeting on 9/8/11
- Members absent: Abby Grant, John Mullen
- We handed out candy bags at the meeting. Each member is expected to sell all the candy
in their bags at $1.00 a piece. Most members had 30 pieces of candy in their bags,
however, some members were given extras to sell. Please keep track of all the money you
make from candy sales. We will be collecting the money at our next meeting on October
13, 2011.
On Wednesday, September 14 we had our annual LYC Island clean up. We met at b pm
and based on the number of people who volunteered to help, it was a success! The
volunteers who extended their help included: Mariel Winton, Mike Barry, Jake Douvas,
Erica Laurenzi, Colleen Mullen, Annie Douvas, Marissa Douvas, Sara Fopiano, Sara
Lehman, James Laurenzi, Joslyn Battite, John Lahiff, Lindsay Steveson, and Thomas
Wood.
Participating in the community service events that LYC carries out will help you earn
community service hours. However, it is YOUR responsibility to keep track of how many
hours you have completed and turn your form in on time to get credit for those hours.
You have 90 days from the day of the event to submit your form. Doug will be
available at the monthly meetings to sign your forms. To make the process easier, please
have your form already filled out before Doug signs it.
- We sign up for events at our monthly meetings. I take down the names of members who
offer to volunteer. However, if upon leaving the meeting you realize you CAN help out,
please let me know and I will add your name to the list. This also applies to those who
realize they CANNOT help out. Again, please let me know of these changes.
- To each meeting please bring a copy of your high school schedule. This way, it is much
easier to see what days and times you are available to help with events that conflict with
school hours.
- PLEASE NOTE: Texting and use of cell phones is not permitted during the course of
the meetings. We only meet once a month for an hour. In that hour, we need everyone's
complete attention. This way, we can have LYC run more smoothly.
- Our next meeting is October, 13, 2011 at 7:00 pm in room G -15 in the lower level of
the Town Office Building.
