Members Absent: Jack McCullough and Thomas Wood
Cotting School We will be visiting the Cotting School on Friday, March 23 from 10 am-
11:30 am. Volunteers include: Sara F., Eva, Joslyn, Lindsay, Martel, Thomas, Andrew, Sara L.,
Scott, Chris, Colleen, Derek, Annie, Jake, and Erica.
We will meet outside LHS at 9:45 and drive over to the school to get thereby 10 to help unload
the books. Then we will begin the activity with the students.
For everyone that signed up: it is very important that you attend. We need to have 1:1 LYC
member to Coning student ration. If, for some reason you can no longer attend, please contact
Emily, Abby, your Team Captain or Doug.
Hoopathon The Hoopathon was on Saturday, March 17 from 11 am- 3 pm. Those who attended
the event said they had a good time.
New Members Applications for 2012- 2013 LYC membership are posted on the town website.
They are due by May 15` ". If you know anyone who would be a good fit for LYC, please
encourage them to apply. We welcome all grade level applicants.
Patriots Day Parade We spent the majority of the meeting discussing our plans for the Patriot's
Day float. We settled on a "beach theme" and a slogan "All hands on deck" or "We go to great
depths for out community ". Sean and his company are supplying the truck and trailer. We will
also be using Sean's little boat and some wooden "whales" and "waves" that he has.
The only thing left to do is make the float. We have some really good ideas circulating and many
people who are willing to put the time in to completing the project. If you have any more ideas,
please post them on the Facebook group or contact an adult advisor and student leader.
At our next meeting we plan to finalize our plans and the times that we will be making the float.
Attendance Attendance at the meetings as been an issue all year. The meetings are only once a
month and are very important. Team Captains contact their members, with plenty of time,
reminding them of the meeting date and time; they need a response. It is very rude not to
acknowledge their message. We have multiple means of communication and should be using
them. Communication is a major factor to success.
We have two meetings remaining. Let's finish strong and have a great attendance at the April
and May meetings!
Next meeting: April 5 2012, 7 pm in Estabrook Hall. Please note: this is the FIRST
Thursday of the month.
