From Meeting on 1/12/12
Members Absent: Caitlyn Dooley
- Christmas Luncheon: In December, eight LYC members helped out at the Senior Christmas
Luncheon at the Munroe Senior Center. It was a success and everyone at the senior center was
very appreciative of our help.
- Cotting School: In March we will be making our annual visit to the Cotting School. When we
visit, we do various activities with the students. Our visit is a very big deal to them, so we need
to have people who are committed to going to the school. The date has yet to be set.
- Book drive: From February 1 st to March 8 LYC students will be help with the book drive that
the Cotting School runs. All the books that are donated are sold on the Cotting School's Amazon
account. The money that is made from the sales goes directly to the school. LYC will be
advertising and making boxes for the books at the drop off locations. The locations are Arlex and
Sunoco. Janelle said she could donate boxes.
Emily and Sara said they would make the signs for the boxes and possibly see if LHS would
allow LYC to place a box in the school. Derek said he would check with Panera to see if a box
could be placed in the store.
- Valentine's Day Luncheon: Although we had planned for people to help out this year, the
senior center is having a buffet this year. With that said, no servers are needed.
- 2012 Patriots Day: Although it is early, Patriots Day will be here before we know it. We want
to be prepared for this event and make the best of it. This year, we are thinking of a small- scale
float. We need EVERYONE TO BRING IDEAS FOR THE FLOAT TO THE NEXT
MEETING. This way, we can prepare and be ready to build the float come April.
300 Anniversary: At our last meeting, Mrs. Kelley came and talked to the LYC members about
Lexington's 300 Anniversary. One of the towns' goals is to bring in many tourists for the
Patriots Day weekend. For this event, LYC will help create a float that represents the 300 years
of Lexington's history. LYC members will begin thinking of ideas for the float with the help of
Mr. and Mrs. Kelley.
Next meeting: February 9 th at 7 pm in ESTABROOK HALL, under the town hall building.
Respectfully submitted,
Abby Grant
