HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-12-21-SLC-minTown of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of December 21, 2012 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on December 21, 2012 at the Town Hall. A quorum of four was present. Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair Rick Abrams, Todd Rhodes, Dan Voss Members Absent: Ken Moraff , Rick Reibstein Other Attendees: Jean Kreiger The meeting was called to order at 3:15 pm. The minutes from the November 27, 2012 meetings were approved with two corrections. Mr. Sandeen and Ms. Kreiger led a discussion regarding the development of a plan to address climate change for Lexington and the process for establishing such a plan. • Mr. Sandeen made a motion that the Sustainable Lexington Committee request that the Lexington Board of Selectman submit the following warrant article for the Spring 2013 town meeting on behalf of the Sustainable Lexington Committee. "To see if the Town will act to include climate change in all its decisions and planning processes, take action to prepare for the impacts of a changing climate and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with the goal of making Lexington a truly sustainable community, or act in any other manner in relation thereto." • The committee unanimously approved the motion. The language for a motion related to this warrant article would need to be drafted in January or early February in preparation for Town Meeting in April. • Mr. Sandeen reminded the committee of the upcoming League of Women Voter's "Community Conversation" focused on sustainability that is scheduled to be held on February 26, 2013.
