A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on December 21,
2012 at the Town Hall. A quorum of four was present.
Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair
Rick Abrams, Todd Rhodes, Dan Voss
Members Absent: Ken Moraff , Rick Reibstein
Other Attendees: Jean Kreiger
The meeting was called to order at 3:15 pm.
The minutes from the November 27, 2012 meetings were approved with two
corrections.
Mr. Sandeen and Ms. Kreiger led a discussion regarding the development of a plan to
address climate change for Lexington and the process for establishing such a plan.
• Mr. Sandeen made a motion that the Sustainable Lexington Committee request that
the Lexington Board of Selectman submit the following warrant article for the Spring
2013 town meeting on behalf of the Sustainable Lexington Committee.
"To see if the Town will act to include climate change in all its decisions
and planning processes, take action to prepare for the impacts of a
changing climate and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with the goal of
making Lexington a truly sustainable community, or act in any other
manner in relation thereto."
• The committee unanimously approved the motion.
The language for a motion related to this warrant article would need to be drafted in
January or early February in preparation for Town Meeting in April.
• Mr. Sandeen reminded the committee of the upcoming League of Women Voter's
"Community Conversation" focused on sustainability that is scheduled to be held on
February 26, 2013.
The meeting adjourned at 4:00 pm
Respectfully Submitted,
Todd Rhodes, Scribe
