Minutes of Meeting of September 19, 2012
A joint meeting of the Recreation Committee and the Lincoln Park Subcommittee was held on
Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Worthen Road entrance to Lincoln Park.
Recreation Committee Members Present: Sandra Shaw, Wendy Rudner, Lisah Rhodes, Rick
DeAngelis and Howard Vogel
Lincoln Park Subcommittee Members Present: David Williams, Lynne Wilson, Robert Pressman
Staff Present: Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation, Chris Filadoro, Superintendent of Public
Grounds, Peter Coleman, Supervisor of Recreation and Sheila Butts, Assistant
Recreation Director
Others Present: Wesley Wirth, Lincoln Park Subcommittee Landscape Architect
Rick DeAngelis, Chairman of the Recreation Committee and David Williams, Chairman of the Lincoln
Park Subcommittee opened the joint meeting of the Recreation Committee and Lincoln Park
Subcommittee meeting at 5:34 p.m.
1. Tour Lincoln Park with the Lincoln Park Sub - Committee
Members of the Recreation Committee and the Lincoln Park Subcommittee proceeded to
take a walking tour along the Lincoln Park bike path, trails, and boardwalk to observe,
evaluate and appraise the clean -up, pruning, planting and other landscaping work that has
been completed on and adjacent to the bike path, trails and boardwalks at Lincoln Park.
Wesley Wirth a landscape architect working with the Lincoln Park Subcommittee
narrated the tour, describing local vegetation, new plantings, invasive species, and
planned work proposals by the Lincoln Park Subcommittee in the future.
The Joint meeting of the Recreation Committee and Lincoln Park Subcommittee adjourned at
6:37 p.m.

At the conclusion of the joint meeting the Recreation Committee acted on the following agenda
items:
1. Citizens and other Boards — none present
2. Recreation Committee Five Year Capital Plan
Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation, provided members of the Recreation Committee
with information about a modification to the Recreation Five -Year Capital Plan, which
was submitted on September 14, 2012. The addition is to Project # 280/Priority 4 — Pine
Meadow Improvements, and adds a $75,000 request in FY14 from the Recreation
Enterprise Fund to dredge the lower irrigation pond between the 2nd and 8 th fairways at
Pine Meadows Golf Club.
Rick DeAngelis made a motion to accept the Recreation Five -Year Capital Plan as
modified and revised on September 18, 2012. Sandra Shaw seconded the motion. The
Recreation Committee unanimously approved the motion 5 — 0.
The next meeting of the Recreation Committee will take place on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in the
Recreation Office at the Town Office Building at 7:00 p.m.
The September 19, 2012 meeting of the Recreation Committee adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
