Members Present: Sandra Shaw, Wendy Rudner, Lisah Rhodes, Rick DeAngelis and Howard Vogel Staff Present: Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation, Chris Filadoro, Superintendent of Public Grounds, and Sheila Butts, Assistant Director of Recreation Others Present: John Allen, Pine Meadows Golf Club Superintendent, Kyle Walsh, Assistant Superintendent The Recreation Committee meeting began at 5:40 p.m. The meeting acted on the following items: 1. Citizens and Other Boards — None 2. Lincoln Park Subcommittee Wendy Rudner distributed the notes from the June 27, 2012 Lincoln Park Subcommittee meeting. She asked if proposed joint meeting of the Recreation Committee and Lincoln Park Subcommittee was taking place on August 15, 2012 at 4:30. Rick DeAngelis suggested that the meeting be held on September 19 at 5:30 p.m. instead. Ms, Rudner will ask members of the LPSC if they are available that day. Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation indicated to the Recreation Committee that there seems to be confusion regarding the membership of the LPSC. Both Brian Kelley and John Eddy are up for reappointment to the LPSC. The Recreation Committee is responsible for the reappointments to the LPSC. Members of the Recreation Committee indicated that Brian Kelley should definitely be reappointed. Ms. Rudner told the Committee that Mr. Eddy has rarely been to the subcommittee meetings. Karen Simmons will make contact with him and will include a discussion of the reappointments on the August agenda. 3. Golf Course Tour Karen Simmons and John Allen introduced Kyle Walsh to the Recreation Committee. Mr. Walsh was hired in February as the new Assistant Superintendent of the course, and noted that he has brought a different view to the challenges of maintaining the course. Mr. Allen, Mr. Walsh and Ms. Simmons reviewed the USGA Turf Advisory Report which had been distributed to the Committee at the June 20` meeting. Members of the Recreation Committee discussed the status of the course, its playability, clubhouse improvements, course improvements, and plans for future projects at the Town Of Lexingt ®n Recreation Committee 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 course. Ms. Simmons indicated that follow through on recommendations made by the USGA are prioritized and included as part of the ongoing Capital Improvement plan. Due to unsettled weather, members of the Recreation Committee did not tour the entire course, but were able to observe the work that has been completed on the pond and cart path next to the 9 th tee and green. The next meeting of the Recreation Committee will take place on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Town Office Building in the Parker Room (G15) at 7;00 p.m. The July 20, 2012 meeting of the Recreation Committee adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The following documents /exhibits distributed at the meeting are attached: Respectfully Submitted, Sheila Butts
