Lexington Youth Commission
Minutes of Meeting of October 10th 2012
A meeting of the Lexington Youth Commission was held on October 10th at 7:00 till
8:00 at Cary Memorial Building,in the Bird Room, 1605 Massachusetts Avenue.
Adult Members Present: Doug Lucente, Sean Maloney, Shannon DeGuglielmo, Karen
Duperey, Debbie Hankins, Beverly Kelly
Student Members Present: Abby Grant, Janelle Franklin, Annie Douvas, Lindsay
Stevenson, Sara Fopiano, Gillian Goolkasian, Jillian Jandl, James and Shaun
McLaughlin, Natalia Pronchick, Andrew Wang, Mariel Winton, Eva Goldfinger,
Elizabeth Coons, Scott Cunningham, Caitlyn Dooley, Emilia and Nic Fusco, Lee Katz,
Jack McCullough, Christopher Grant, James Laurenzi, John Lahiff, Ben Libeskind,
Mark Solomon, and Ashley Walsh.
Excused Absent: Jenna Busa, Sara Lehman, Carolyn Avery, Michael Barry, Becca and
Jackie Denning, Jake Douvas, Thomas Wood, and John Mullen.
The meeting acted on the following items:
1) CORI Forms: forms still need to be handed in by Debbie Hankins, John
Mullen, Mariel Winton, Sara Lehman, Gillian Goolkasian, and Shaun and
James McLaughlin.
2) Candy Drive: Candy Drive was a success, and a generous donation of
about 1,000 dollars will be donated to the Lexington Food Pantry. However,
we still have not collected money from Nic Fusco, Joslyn Battite, Eva
Goldfinger, Thomas Wood, and John Mullen. We decided at the last meeting
that we will be doing another Candy Drive for the Holiday Gift Fundraiser.
We will each be getting another 35 pieces of candy at the next meeting.
3) Island Clean Un: The LYC Island Clean Up was also a success. Thank you to the
people that helped plant and weed which were: Doug Lucente, Karen
Duperey, Abby Grant, Janelle Franklin, Joslyn Battite, Sara Fopiano, Natalia
Pronchick, Elizabeth Coons, Scott Cunningham, Emilia Fusco, Christopher
Grant, James Laurenzi, John Lahiff, and Ben Liebeskind.
4) Haloween Decorating: The following students will be decorating the center
with balloons for Halloween john Lahiff, Annie Douvas, Jake Douvas, Emilia
Fusco, Andrea Michelson, Ashley Walsh, Jillian Jandl, SaraFopiano, Elizabeth
Coons, Lindsay Stevenson, Natalia Pronchick, Ben Liebeskind, Lee Katz, Scott
Cunningham, Chris Grant, James Laurenzi, Eva Goldfinger, and Abby Grant.
Everyone should meet at Brookline Bank at 10:30 AM on Wednesday,
October 31, 2012. We will be finished by Noon.
5) Thanksgiving Together at the last meeting we talked about the Thanksgiving
Turkey Delivery which will take place on Wednesday November 21St. Next
meeting we will finalize a time. For the Turkey Delivery we will need four or
five people to drive. So far we have Sara Lehman, Scott Cunningham, Lindsey
Stevenson, and Caitlyn Dooley as volunteered drivers.
6) Holiday Gift Fundraiser: the Holiday Gift Fundraiser, we decided as a
group to raise money by going to Wilson's Farm, the Tree Lighting event in
Lexington, and by doing a second Candy Drive. We may also raise money at
Ace and Seasons Four. Our goal is to raise a total of $2,250. This money will
be donated to Lexington families who can not afford to buy gifts for there
children around the holidays. Each family will be given a gift card for every
child they have.
7) Other: Thank you to everybody who brought ideas for the float and for T-
shirts! If you ordered a sweatshirt ($34) and /or a T -shirt ($10) please bring
in a check next meeting. Checks should be made payable to: "Lexington Youth
Commission ". The next meeting, which will be in Eastabrook Hall, will be on
Thursday November 8th. That night will also be the night of the group picture
so please remember to wear your LYC sweatshirt or T -Shirt from last year.
