Funding $24,000 Tree Expense. To bridge the budget gap resulting from Town Meeting’s vote to appropriate $24,000 for tree planting, the Board of Selectmen have proposed reducing a $36,000 increase in the funding of the Town’s umbrella insurance policy by $10,000. This funding reduction would reduce the amount of insurance coverage by $1M. In addition the Selectmen have proposed reducing the originally budgeted $20,000 increase in the cemetery maintenance funds (personal services and expenses) by $14,000. This reduction would be in proposed increases for summer help and supplies. Town Meeting member Jim Wood will be presenting a motion to close this gap by reducing the Reserve Fund appropriation by $24,000. It was asked if there is any way to find the money in the debt service line item. Rob Addelson answered that there is not. The Committee voted to support the Selectmen’s proposal (6-0) and to reconsider that support should other options arise. 2. Article 27 Transfer for FY08 Budget. Rob Addelson reported that he was awaiting the posting of the latest payroll before evaluating the affected line items. 3. Land Acquisition. The Community Preservation Committee is holding a meeting on 4/17 at 4 pm in the Board of Selectmen’s meeting room to consider funding options for land acquisitions. It was questioned whether the price for the parcels was too high, and the funding options, i.e., cash versus bonding, were discussed. The meeting was adjourned shortly after 7:27 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Eric Michelson Approved June 25, 2008 - 1 -
