Town of Lexington Appropriation Committee
October 17, 2007
Place and time: Cary Memorial Building, Ellen Stone Room, 6:30 p.m.
Members present: Alan Levine (Chair), Rod Cole (Vice-Chair), John Bartenstein
(Secretary), Deborah Brown, Richard Eurich, Susan McLeish, Eric Michelson, Rob
Addelson (ex officio, non-voting).
The meeting was called to order at 6:37 with a quorum present.
Discussion of Shire and TIF (Warrant Article 2)
1. . Thanks were expressed
to Eric Michelson for pulling together our report to the Special Town Meeting
and for having it printed. A discussion ensued regarding the $2.6 million of
infrastructure amounts and what would happen if the state did not come
through with the amounts by 6/1/12. Rob Addelson indicated that the Town
would be aggressive in pursuing the state grants, and that it would go ahead
with the projects even if it became evident that Shire was not moving ahead
with their planned construction. Shire has a commitment to pay for any
shortfall in what the state pays for by 6/15/2012, so it is unlikely that the
Town would pursue any decertification (if Shire does not move forward with
their planned construction) before that date.
School Committee Meeting with Burlington.
2. Deborah Brown indicated that
an agenda item for our next meeting would be the meeting that she attended
between the Lexington School Committee and the Town of Burlington
regarding budgeting out-of-district spending in the shared expenses budget
instead of the school budget.
Future Meeting Schedule.
3. Our next meeting will be on October 30, and
another is scheduled for 11/13.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
