CEC minutes - 9 January 2001 (approved)
The meeting was called to order at 7:36 PM. Present were Tom Griffths
(TG),
Shirley Stolz (SS), George Burnell (GB), and Charles Hornig (CH). We
were
joined by Deborah Brown (Appropriations) and Heather Sweeney and Don
Graham
of COA.
The SCSC report is being drafted to be done by the end of January. It
will
recommend 2 sites (DPW, Walgreen's) to the Selectmen. Munroe School is
a
backup site. New plan is to use Muzzey for daycare, requiring
renovations.
The COA does not expect to bring this to Town Meeting in 2001.
Parking remains a serious problem in the current center. The matter is
still
in court.
There is no consensus on size (20-40K sq ft), cost ($3.5M-$5M), or how
the
center would fit with DPW or Walgreen's. CEC has it at $5.25M in fall
2004
for planning.
TG attended an Appropriations Committee meeting where they discussed
the
SBRCFAC report.
GB heard that the schools are considering the build 1, renovate 5
approach
as an alternative to the current build 2, renovate 4 plan.
We will cancel the 1/20 meeting because only TG can go. We will try to
move
the 1/23 meeting to 201 Bedford.
Gof8 covered non-capital items. The capital summit will be on 1/30.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:48 PM. Minutes were taken and submitted
by
Charles Hornig, clerk.
