Police Traffic Safety Update
The TSAC discussed items in the attached LPD TSAC Issues that were submitted in the
months of July and August and were identified for TSAC review:
Item #41 — Fairbanks Road The residents of Fairbanks Road are concerned
about vehicles using the road as a neighborhood cut - through and vehicle speeds.
The TSAC recommended that traffic calming measures proposed by the Town along
Shade Street including the intersection at Fairbanks Road through installation of new
pavement markings and signage be allowed to go forward. After a period of time, the
Town will review the effectiveness of the traffic calming measures to control speeding
and cut - through traffic. At that time, the TSAC can review additional measures if
necessary.
Item #44 — Tricorne Road at Marrett Road: Resident of Tricorne Road was
concerned about the poor visibility in either directions of Marrett Road for drivers and
pedestrians exiting Tricorne Road. The Town has reviewed the existing conditions in
the field. The TSAC recommends that the Town propose additional warning signs
along Marrett Road to MassDOT District 4 for installation by them ( Marrett Road is a
state highway).
Item #45 — Mason Street: The residents of Mason Street are concerned about
speeding, parked vehicles along a curve that impede sight distance, and pedestrians
crossing at the private community pool. The TSAC recommends that this item be
added to the agenda of the next TSAC meeting to hear from the residents their
concerns as well as discuss measures that might be appropriate in terms of signage

and pavement markings.
Item #46 — Peacock Farm Road: The residents are concerned about speeding,
and volume of cut - through traffic on their road. The TSAC recommends that this item
be added to the agenda of the next TSAC meeting to hear from the residents their
concerns as well as discuss measures that might be appropriate in terms of signage
and pavement markings.
Item #47 — Russell Road near Winchester Drive: Resident of Russell Road was
concerned about cut - through traffic and speeding stemming from the fatal crash at the
intersection with Winchester Drive. The Town is still waiting for the final crash
investigation report from the fatality. The TSAC intends to revisit this item after the
report is available to the Town to determine measures that might be appropriate.
• Item #48 — Young Street at Webb Street: Resident was concerned about
motorists making a right or left on to Webb Street from Young Street without stopping.
There is currently on STOP sign. The TSAC recommends that the Town investigate if
a STOP sign is warranted on Young Street.
Item #49 — Pelham Road at Mass Ave: The resident concern was related to the
sight distance from Mass Ave given the existing horizontal alignment. TSAC
recommends that the Town do the following: a) coordinate with the MBTA to move the
existing bus stop to a new location with better sight distance; b) review the existing
crosswalk location and determine if the placement needs to be changed for better
sight distance; and c) looks at improving the visibility of the existing warning sign on
Mass Ave eastbound.
New Business
The Town brought up two issues related to parking near schools — Eldred Street at Grove
Street (near Estabrook); and Middleby Road (near Bridge). Parents are parking their
vehicles on Eldred due to on -going construction which is impacting traffic operations
(including bus operations) at the intersection with Grove St. A similar problem was noted
related to vehicles parked on Middleby Road. The TSAC recommends that these two issues
be added to the agenda of the next TSAC meeting to discuss additional signage that might
be appropriate.
Next Meeting
The next TSAC meeting will be on October 2nd
