Article 40 ad hoc Committee
September 13, 2006
A duly posted meeting of the Article 40 ad hoc Committee held in the Selectmen's
Meeting Room, Town Office Building was called to order at 7 30 a.m. by Chairman
Anthony Galartsis with members Judy Crocker, Tom Diaz, Derek Fullerton, Anne
Kelley, Ingrid Klimoff, Sheryl Mason, Jim Sheehy and Jim Wilson.
The Minutes of the July 12, 2006 meeting were presented for review and acceptance
After a brief discussion and a few minor changes Tom Diaz made a motion to accept the
Minutes as revised and Anne Kelley seconded the motion. The motion was accepted by
all those in attendance at the July 12, 2006 meeting.
Anne Kelley gave an update on the School Committee presentation and some follow-up
action items
There was a discussion on the need for a Distribution Plan for the signs as well as the
installation of the signs that will not be on school property All Town signs will be
installed on existing poles
Ingrid Klimoff is working with Brookhaven on the installation of their signs
Judy Crocker will follow-up on the status of the signs that she delivered to the high
school and swap the defective signs for the new signs
Tom Diaz gave a brief update on MAPC Grant Application. There was some discussion
on the use of the Grant funds Tom will find out more about this Grant for the next
meeting. Sheryl noted that all of the Lexington school buses have been converted to the
low sulfur fuel
Derek requested that any committee member that has taken signs to send him an e-mail
stating the number of signs that were taken and for what location(s)
Tony Galartsis gave an update on the presentation that was made to the Selectmen. It
was agreed that we should work with Dawn McKenna and the Tourist Committee on sign
placement in the Historic District Tony will follow-up with Dawn on a meeting with the
Tourist Committee on the placement of signs in the Historic District This meeting was
tentatively planned for the middle of September Tony will also discuss with Dawn the
placement of signs in the parking lots
A motion was made by Tom Diaz and seconded by Judy Crocker to install the signs in
the parking lots The motion passed. Sheryl Mason and Jim Wilson were not present
Tony Galaitsis will follow-up on the status of the signs that were sent to the Minuteman
Technical School to see when they will be installed.
Judy Crocker and Tony Galaitsis will follow-up with Bill Hartigan on the status of the
school signs
Ingrid Klimoff will review the May Selectmen Meeting Minutes to see if they approved
the parking lot signs
Derek Fullerton will follow-up on the status of the tickets with the Chief of Police
Judy Crocker will make copies of the educational awareness flyers and give them to
Derek Fullerton for distribution.
The Education Sub-committee will meet in the next few weeks to discuss their various
tasks,
On a motion duly made and seconded it was voted to adjourn the meeting at 8 50
