HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-11-22-SCAP-min Senior Center Action Plan Committee Meeting November 22, 2005 530 pm Present Shirley Stolz, Mary Lou Touart, Duke Bitsko, Maria Constantimdes, Lauren MacNeil, Paul Lapointe, Marian Cohen, Laura Kole, Richard Pagett, Charles Hornig, John Rossi Absent Tom Griffiths, Marilyn Campbell Minutes We approved the minutes from Nov 8, 2005 Minutes from Nov 15, 2005 were approved with the addition of "on behalf of the COA(Council on Aging)" after"Marian Cohen" under Lexington Adult Supportive Day Program Richard requested that the minutes be sent to the Town Clerk, Laura will do this from now on and also send all prior minutes Comments about 11/15 Meeting Charles Hornig, speaking for the Planning Board, wondered if he should do an analysis to make sure the proposed space(s) conforms to zoning bylaws From the space analysis report as presented last week, he thinks we require at least a 2 acre site There are rules about parking spaces, setbacks, height limits and so forth. Zoning will be a big issue for the small sites such as Muzzey and Munroe Discussion about how we would fit on Muzzey, where Charles thought we would be lucky to get 25-30 parking spaces behind any proposed building. Norm Cohen is coming to the 11/29 meeting to talk about some of the legal issues of Muzzey What about privately owned sites in towns We don't know how to identify them, they Just appear and disappear Selection Criteria We listed each site currently under consideration and the selection criteria as described on page 10 of the Senior Center Siting Committee Report of April 2, 2001 so we can see how each site conforms to the criteria. Meriam St looks practical according to the chart Municipal lot is 2 5 acres A 28,000 sq ft building would replace 50-60 parking spaces We need to come up with cost/sq ft to renovate and to build new Can we get help from the Permanent Building Committee on this9 At Muzzey we would put the Adult Day program in the existing Center, put the new Senior Center on the playing field. Meriam seems too expensive, Waldorf has a lease for 17 more years, not practical to consider We will continue to evaluate these sites Meeting adjourned at 7 20 pm.
