HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-01-09-TOUR2-minLexington Tourism Committee Minutes Monday, January 9, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. Town Hall, Room 111 Members attending: John Ott, Chuck French, Bebe Fallick, Susan Bennett, Paul O'Shaughnessy, Richard Canale, Dawn McKenna, Mary Jo Bohart Staff: Masha Traber Selectman Liaison: Richard Pagett 1 Dawn announced that Mary Jo Bohart has been officially appointed to the Committee 2 Christopher Bing presented several options with his sketches. The Committee voted unanimously on the "lower view ", using color, and including three maps below the main picture showing before, during and after the war. Decisions on an additional picture for the West end of Battle Green were postponed until the one near the Minuteman statute is approved and installed. 3 The Committee voted unanimously to support the Town Meeting articles for the Scenic By -Way. There was also discussion about the article for a new Sound System for Celebrations. A vote will be taken on this article when more information is available. Also the Sheraton rezoning article was mentioned. Dawn will invite Bill Bunce to attend a meeting so the committee can decide whether or not to support the article. 4 Guides on the Green will start Patriots Day weekend and continue to October on a regular schedule subject to staffing availability. 5 Dawn reported that she had a positive meeting with Town Manager Carl Valente regarding the efforts of the Tourism Committee. The meeting was positive and he will get back to Dawn about several issues for the committee. 6 Masha reported that the Liberty Ride would come close to break even. The current deficit was $4,394. Several checks had been collected or deposited that have not yet been credited to the projected deficit. Dawn was confident we could raise funds to bring the operation to break -even by the end of the year. 7 The Committee unanimously voted to have the Liberty Ride operate on Saturday, a full schedule, and Sunday afternoon of Patriots Day weekend, to start the season on Memorial Day, and to change the hours of operation from 10:30 to 4:30. 8 The next meeting will be January 30 at 4 PM.
