a) D. Pinsonneault emailed his input to John Frey.
b) Inventory-In week 7, current map on 1/8 of town is almost complete.
Interns met with forestry crew, which produced an interesting discussion
on status of certain trees and what they experience in their work. Interns
will leave on August 17, 2007.
c) Tree Farm-J. Wood to talk with D. Pinsonneault about obtaining rodent
collars for crabs and cherries. 7 of 20 of the scarlet oaks have leafed out.
d) Dolburg Scarlet Oak-The donor has noted dead limbs and aphids. We will
inform the donor that we will remove the dead limbs and spray next year.
e) Construction Impact-Lowell Street Traffic Island-The Garden Club’s
Civic improvement Committee was told by the Contractor that they would
be notified before any work was done. The Contractor failed to do this and
the tree roots were exposed, and several flowers were torn up. Action on
our part?
4. Friends of Trees-Garden Club has provided a $1500.00 grant for trees. It is to
purchase 6 trees at $250 each. 3 to be planted on Clark Street (1 birch and 2
yellow wood) and 3 others on Meriam Street at the parking lot.
Karen Longetieg will work with the LHS PTA landscaping subcommittee to plant
a specimen oak. Karen plans to work through D. Pinsonneault to accomplish this.
5. Eastern bank proposal-J. Frey called Alex Grinis who reported no action on the
Banks part yet.
6. Commemorative Tree Program, Tree Committee Web Site, and the Tree Talk
articles for the newspaper were all postponed until next meeting. The Belfry hill-
CPA grant proposal is postponed until the inventory effort is completed for this
summer.
Next regular meeting is August 9, 2007, 7:30 AM in Room 111.
Signed-Jim Wood
