Senning and S. Solomon, N. Walker, J. Krieger (Selectmen Rep.) 1. Minutes of the November 13 meeting were approved as amended. 2. Group Photograph: N. Walker took a group photo (outside of Cary Hall) of the Tree Committee for the 2004 Lexington Annual Report. 3. By-law Revision: J. Frey will reserve space on the 2004 Warrant for a Tree By-law Article Amendment. 4. Annual report: J. Frey had prepared a draft. The draft was edited to include "Trees Planted on Public Land", as follows: a.) Lincoln St. Area: 31 + 9 b.) LHS: 20+ c.) Arbor Day: 1 white oak (recognize private source funding). The text was reorganized into three categories: a.) Tree Manual b.) Tree Plantings c.) Community Outreach The Committee approved the revised submission. 5. Tree Manual: The need to Copyright was discussed. a.) Copyrighting the Manual would set a precedent for Lexington b.) Publication automatically provides a one-year copyright c.) Copyrighting protect against wholesale commercial copying (unlikely to happen). It was voted (3 - Yea; 2 - Abstain) not to formally copyright the Manual. 6. Ringe Park Application: Pending 7. Committee Vacancy: S. Solomon will contact Joanna Grissom. If she is not available, Jim Jones will be contacted. 8. Next Project: Street Tree Inventory: Suggested using LHS students on the 1st round - rejected. Look for a funding grant, use GPS, organize teams Look for expertise/help on the Town website (??) 9.
