HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-03-13-BOH-min Lexington Board of Health March 13, 2005, Meeting Minutes G-15, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA Attendees: Board of Health: Wendy Heiger-Bernays, Chair; Burt Perlmutter; Sharon MacKenzie, Deborah Thompson Health Department: Derek Fullerton, Winona Moeller The meeting began at 7:05 PM. There was no public participation. Heiger-Bernays asked Deborah Thompson to introduce herself to the Board. Thompson went on to say that currently she an Epidemiologist II at the Center for Family and Community Health, Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Heiger-Bernays welcomed Winona Moeller the new public health nurse. The Board reviewed the Communicable Disease Report. Fullerton began a discussion proposing the Board adopt mercury regulations. Perlmutter wanted to review the packet of other town’s mercury regulations and discuss at the next meeting. The Board reviewed the Director’s report. Heiger-Bernays stated Fullerton may be under estimating his time and Fullerton may want to change time allocations as time goes on. Fullerton informed the Board, that the permit fee increases and grease trap regulations would be presented to the Board of Selectmen on Monday evening, March 21, 2005. Fullerton informed the Board of a letter received from Jay Kaufman indicating he had received a letter from a former resident who lived at 1947 Massachusetts Avenue. The tenant had complained about the property owner using the pesticide chlordane. This will be investigated and discussed at a later meeting. Fullerton began a discussion concerning the Battle Green Inn Property and oil contamination that has been detected at the adjacent property now occupied by Cohoe’s. The Board recommended that Fullerton contact DEP to determine if there has been an RAO and to obtain a copy of the final report for RTN#3-0617. Fullerton advised the Board of the letter being sent to residents who have septic or cesspool systems which are not in compliance with the pumping requirements. Failure to have their systems pumped within 30 days of the date of the letter will result in a fine of $100. MacKenzie motioned to adjourn. Thompson seconded. All approved.
