HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-07-02-HDC-min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of July 2, 2002 Commissioners in attendance: Joann Gschwendtner, Chairman; Ian Adamson, Mark DiNapoli, Dan Fenn, Lynn Hopkins, and Associate Commissioners Daniel Griffin and Eleanor MacQueen. PETITIONS HEARD: 13 Depot Square – Ralph Pecora, representing the Town of Lexington, received approval to replace an existing water fountain with new one. Certificate No. 2002C-50 4 Hancock Avenue – Eddi Ruchrist did not show for meeting. Hearing continued to August. 1386 Massachusetts Avenue – Steven Hurley, representing Community of Christ, received approval for a bench. Certificate No. 2002C-51 782 Massachusetts Avenue – Denis Haskin and Faith Ferguson received approval for a house color chanage. Certificate No. 2002C-52 844 Massachusetts Avenue – Craig Flynn, Elite Wireless, received approval for signage. Certificate No. 2002C-53 27 Depot Square – Irving Smith, representing Winston Flowers, received approval for a sign. Certificate No. 2002C-54 1727 Massachusetts Avenue – Peter Niemitz, representing Copacafe, received approval for front façade changes, chairs, tables and umbrellas for outside, glass awning, building lighting, and signage. Mr. Fenn recused himself from hearing. Certificate No. 2002C-55 CONTINUED: 73 Waltham Street – Andrew Bedar from BKA Architects, representing Verizon, received approval for replacing all existing panels and adding section on roof and painting to match existing penthouse color. Discussed the transformer and how the Commission never approved its location. Will request the Building Inspector to write a letter to NStar. Certificate No. 2002C-56 INFORMALS: 956 Massachusetts Avenue – Richard Bechtel, representing Erik Kondo, presented plans for addition to rear of home that includes elevator. Will return for formal hearing. 782 Massachusetts Avenue – Richard Bechtel, representing Denis Haskin and Faith Ferguson, presented plans for an addition to the side of the home. Will return for formal hearing. 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of July 2, 2002 (concluded) Lexington Revitalization Subcommittee – Sheila Watson, Jeanne Kreiger, and Jerome Smith presented and discussed possibilities for recycling containers in the center. 1314 Massachusetts Avenue – Harry and Mary Petschek discussed reproofing half of home with existing materials. If they wish to add a roof vent they will have to apply for a formal hearing. 1751 Massachusetts Avenue – Jerald Sawyer, representing Cambridgeport Bank, discussed new signage for the bank. Will return for formal hearing. The minutes of June 6, 2002 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
