HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-03-01-HDC-min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of March 1, 2001 Commissioners in attendance: Ian Adamson, Mark DiNapoli, Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Jeffrey Denzak and Daniel Griffin PETITIONS HEARD: 1740 Massachusetts Avenue – Jim McCoy, representing Atlas Travel, received approval for two signs. Signs will be black background with gold lettering; one on each corner of building. Commission asked that purple border be removed and windows kept clear. Certificate No. 2001C-13 1377 Massachusetts Avenue – Carole and Joseph Stavenhagen received approval for a hip cap roof over existing 9x4 foot porch. Materials will match existing. Porch will include trellis on one side and light underneath roof. Certificate No. 2001C-14 1 Bedford Street – Charles C. French, representing Buchman Tavern, received approval for a sign to replace existing using same wording. New sign will be made from high-density urethane SignFoam II and will have removable panel for when open. Certificate No. 2001C-15 CONTINUED: 52 Waltham Street – Matthew Bathon, representing Windspeed, received approval for 2 double sided signs; one located in front on existing post and one in rear hanging from porch. Sign will have number and street with previously approved panels screwed on to both sides. Certificate No. 2001C-16 905 Massachusetts Avenue – Jack Shay presented landscaping plans. Continued for changes. 10 Hancock Avenue – Scott Kyle presented plans to partially demolish existing detached garage and build a porch/deck and small room addition. Continued for detailed drawings. 10 and 12 Hancock Avenue – Scott Kyle received approval for shared driveway design and materials. Certificate No. 2001C-17 7 Percy Road – Matthew Thenen received approval for house including wood frieze over garage doors and porch and detail on back. Certificate No. 2001C-18 8 Curve Street – Joe Hunt received approval for 2 garage doors (Holmes Doors – The Williamsburg), 2 additional 6x6 windows on garage, 2 additional 6x6 windows on existing porch, and change to porch and stairs on front. Certificate No. 2001C-19 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of March 1, 2001 (concluded) INFORMALS: 440 Massachusetts Avenue – Heather Hartshorn Sweeney discussed adding kitchen and bedroom and new front porch to home. Commission felt what she had planned would look good. Masonic Temple (Corner of Harrington Road and Bedford Street) – Ed Lloyd asked the Commission about adding a fence to the side property line from Bedford Street to the bikeway. Commission would not like a fence. Masonic Temple should consider plantings. Commission recommended talking with Animal Officer and sending another letter to the abutter. The minutes of February 1, 2001 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 9:55 p.m.
