HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-03-02-HDC-min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of March 2, 2000 Commissioners in attendance: Ian Adamson, Mark DiNapoli, Dan Fenn, Joann Gschwendtner, and Lynn Hopkins; Associate Commissioners:, Jeffrey Denzak, Daniel Griffin, and Eleanor MacQueen. PETITIONS HEARD: 870 Massachusetts Avenue - Laura Jean Herlihy received approval to remove vinyl siding and repair or replace clapboard to be painted white; wood shutters painted black; removal of front door for approximately 1 to 2 months for repair; and swing set located behind garage for 10 year period. Hearing continued for front door hardware information. Certificate No. 2000C-16 23 Bedford Street - Leanne Cunningham received approval for a swing set for 10 years; repainting front door same color; new front outside light fixture; replacement wood storm door to be approved by Commissioner Hopkins. Continued for roof ventilation. Certificate No. 2000C- 17 Center Signage - Marita Hartshorn, representing the Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee, received approval for three (3) safety signs (12" x 16") to be located along Mass. Avenue and for two (2) signs (4" x 10") along the bike path. Three (3) jaywalking signs along Mass. Avenue will be removed. Certificate No. 2000C-18 2016 Massachusetts Avenue - Philip and Janet Hurd received approval for a swing set for 10 years. Slide and canopy will be solid green. Certificate No. 2000C-19 CONTINUED HEARINGS 1605 Mass. Avenue – Cary Hall – W.H. Rowe received approval for the addition of an elevator to Cary Hall. Approval subject to granite, bricks, and mortar mock review. Certificate No. 2000C-20 40 Hancock Street – Richard Millman received approval for eave and gazebo brackets and details. Certificate No. 2000C-21 1088 Mass. Avenue – Donald and Victoria Sullivan presenting drawings on a new garage and driveway. Continued for details. 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 INFORMAL HEARINGS 1874 Massachusetts Avenue - Cary Library - The Permanent Building Committee (PBC) presented plans for the Library renovation. The PBC will return for another informal meeting the end of March. Date to be determined. Mr. Fenn recused himself for this hearing. 915-917 Massachusetts Avenue - Bill and David Rothfuchs discussed plans for renovating 915 Mass. Avenue back to a single-family home and demolishing 917 Mass. Avenue and building a new single family home. The two homes will be attached at the garage. The Rothfuchs will return for formal hearing. The minutes of February 3, 2000 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
