HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-06-01-HDC-min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of June 1, 2000 Commissioners in attendance: Ian Adamson, Mark DiNapoli, Dan Fenn, Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Jeff Denzak, Dan Griffin, and Eleanor MacQueen. PETITIONS HEARD: 36 Bedford Street - Fleet Bank - Kris Loughlin received approval for a Fleet sign to replace Bank Boston on the Stop & Shop. No approval needed for interior sign. Certificate No. 2000C- 51. 2030 Mass. Avenue - Jack and Ann Strominger received approval for ridge and soffit vents, removal of door; 2 new windows (side by side), new door to deck; and to paint front door California Roasted Pepper and doors on Parker either Roasted Pepper or White. Certificate No. 2000C-52. 1822 Mass. Avenue - Sovereign Bank - William Glass presented a sign for Sovereign Bank. Received approval to install temporary sign. Will return in July with other options. Commission asked Sovereign to consider eliminating the white border and starburst, keeping the lamp and also to tone down red color. Continued to July. 52 Waltham Street - Windspeed Capital LLC - Steve Hurley received approval for restoration and landscape improvements. Continued for different lights. Certificate No. 2000C-53. 7 Muzzey Street - Dr. KarenBraga and Dr. James Belanger presented a drawing of a projecting sign. Asked for guidance from Commission on size and color. Commission suggested brown with gold lettering approximately 2-1/2 x 2 feet. Will return with detailed information. 1580 Mass. Avenue - First Baptist Church - Steve Hurley received approval for 2 benches, improvement of front steps with new railings and surrounding landscaping. Certificate No. 2000C-54. 1347 Mass. Avenue - Eileen Reynolds received approval to paint home Buckman Tavern colors with option of shutters being green or trim color. Certificate No. 2000C-55. CONTINUED HEARINGS One Oakland Street - Janet Tiampo received approval for 3' picket fence (Walpole Sudbury - straight across) in front; to leave screen door white; relocate stepping stones to front of house; and add Walpole Sudbury white picket gate (4' high) with recommended thick shrubs on either side of gate in front of wire fence. Mark DiNapoli abstained. Dan Griffin voted. Certificate No. 2000C-56. 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of June 1, 2000 (concluded) 905 Mass. Avenue - Jack Shay received approval for replacement of front right window with windows from mid-section; mahogany front porch; old granite step; remove existing cellar entrance; install foundation for mid-section; remove mid section and add two floor addition to match height of front house, use NORCO SPDH 2826 windows for mid section. Certificate No. 2000C-57. 1994 Mass. Avenue - Joyce Roetter received approval for additions to rear of home and garage addition with pergola. Certificate No. 2000C-58. 6 Parker Street - Peter Kelley representing the Liano's - Mr. Kelley received approval for fence on south property line approximately 57' to match existing front fence. Certificate No. 2000C- 59. 31Curve Street - Bill and David Rothfuchs received approval for wrought iron railing and overhead electric. Certificate No. 2000C-60. RCN - Katy Kirkpatrick discussed and showed the Commission the flush pedestals that would be used only if necessary in the districts. Michael Campbell discussed and showed the RSU connection boxes. Commission wants to make sure they are not mounted on the front of houses in the districts. INFORMAL HEARINGS 18 Hancock Street - Jean Baxter showed drawing of iron railing to be added to two entryways. Will return for formal hearing in July. 1355 Mass. Avenue - Rick Bechtel, representing Kochanek and Wysouzil discussed plans for an addition. Will return for formal hearing. The minutes of April 6, May 3, and May 4 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
